Hi I'm Aubrey

I'm me…I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as the youngest of 5 but now a member of a family that is here, there, and everywhere. I love to be out and about doing whatever comes my way. I especially love softball.

Why I am a Mormon

I’m a Mormon because I was born into a family that was…. The more important question to me is why I’m STILL a Mormon. I grew up going to church. Singing songs about Jesus, acting out the story of Joseph of Egypt, Moses, or Nephi, being together with a church family that was there through thick and thin were normal Sunday activities for me. This gave me a foundation on Christ that has been my rock and will be my Salvation. Like any member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who has a testimony of its truth, I had to grow one step at a time. These teachings aren’t here to restrict but to refine, they aren’t to dictate, but to distinguish as children of God, they aren’t to bind, but to bless. I have received strength, guidance, peace, love, and intelligence that I would not have gained in any other way or place…. That is why I am STILL a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live by faith. I believe that EVERYTHING in this life either brings us closer to our Heavenly Father or further away. It isn't so much the challenges or experiences that make me who I am, but how I react in those situations. What is it that I learn? How do I change so that I will BE a better person in the end? I could live a life of doing whatever happened to seam like a good idea. Doing whatever is the easiest, funnest, or more thrilling option. But, I make choices based on the ultimate consiquence it will inevitably bring. This world is built upon a series of laws. With gravity, for instance, if I throw a ball over my head, it will drop and hit me. There is no other option. I have the choice to either catch the ball, move, or get hit... But, the ball IS coming back to Earth. God lives by law. When we make a wrong choice, there is a consiquence for that, and it is ONLY through His son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ that we can be forgiven of our sins. If I didn't beleive that with all my heart.... what would be the point of living a decent life? There is another part of my faith that secures the foundation of my testimony of my Savior, and that is that He still loves us today just as much as He loved to people of Moses or Abraham's time. He loves us and so He will never forsake us. I know we have a prophet today to help us have guidence in our crazy changing world! It is something I had to come to know for my self, just as you would have to know for your self. But there is a way to know with surety.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Aubrey
I figure most people see us as a cult because we "blindly follow” a leader. I would suppose that in a way… they are right. We do follow a leader- Jesus Christ. And we do it by faith which is belief in something that is true but not seen. The great part is that our loving Heavenly Father has given us tools to be able to follow Him better. The Holy Ghost is our biggest helper! He helps us know and feel the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is another tool, used with the Spirit, to gain a testimony that God STILL uses prophets today. If you read it, study it, pray about it, and ask God, He will send His Spirit to help you know the truth. If it is true… that means Joseph Smith really was a prophet of God.
