Hi I'm Heidi

I'm a California city girl married to a small-town Idaho boy. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hm. I am a stay-at-home mom raising kids. I'm on the PTA and I try to stay current on political issues in our area. I like to run, rearrange the furniture, read classic novels, make pastry, do arsty-fartsy things like quilt and knit, play the flute and putter in the yard. I also start projects when I'm super tired.

Why I am a Mormon

Good question. I am a Mormon because regularly attending this church has helped me focus on the important things in life. As I read and study and serve, I am drawn closer to Christ. I love the fact that my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are accessible. I'm a Mormon because I know it is what has helped me grow and flourish despite sometimes making foolish choices. That is what repentance is for. That is what lets me pick myself up and try again. I'm a Mormon because I am given a longer view of life and it's expectations. Such perspective guides me in critical moments and allows me to decidedly act instead of react.

How I live my faith

I visit with a lot of families who are hurting in this economy. This church has it's own welfare system and I am privileged enough to assist with those efforts in our ward (area). It's so much better than any government program because the focus is on helping families while they work on becoming self-sufficient. There is a confidence when you can provide for your own family that is robbed from a person living on government doles or welfare systems. Our church is a social church! There is always some sort of activity or program. I love helping with them because I get to know people when I work alongside them. There are serious, quiet times but there are also many fun times as well. The best things I can do, however, are in the home. I love hearing my toddler pray. I love reading the Bible and Book of Mormon with my tween. I love being married to a man of deep faith who takes his promises seriously and loves his family. My day isn't complete until I have reviewed the events of the day with him. Knowing that he and I are bound together in this life and beyond is wonderfully satisfying. I am so grateful for this.

What is the Relief Society?

It is the organization that every woman 18 and over in the church belongs to. We serve others, serve each other and serve God. Relief comes in so many ways; providing meals to the sick, visiting the lonely, teaching women how to care for their family and home and most importantly, helping each other draw closer to the best source of comfort and healing-Christ.
