Hi I'm Brad

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married since 1976 to the love of my life. We have 4 children, all grown, that we are very proud of. We have a dog, a bichon, who was won all of our hearts - spoiled little guy has to sleep with someone every night. I have been a banker for 30 years and am currently a corporate banker for a large international bank. I have a degree in accounting and MBA from BYU where I met my wife. When I was younger, I loved to play basketball, volleyball, softball and tennis but my knees don't let me do much of that any more. When the church used to hold national tournaments for softball, I won the home run hitting contest. Now, my favorite Saturday activity is watching SEC football, don't really follow the pro teams because they play on Sunday which is a day of worship for us. Still play a little bit of tennis when I can. My kids tease me because whenever I make a major purchase I spend weeks putting all of the facts into a big spreadsheet to try and get a good deal. My middle son found himself making one of Dad's spreadsheets last summer to plan out his family vacation - I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom joined the church when I was 3. She was attracted to it because she knew that the people acted like disciples of Christ, even before she knew the doctrine. The Gospel of Jesus Christ, as taught by the Mormon Church appeals to my mind and my spirit. To my mind because it takes in the entire Bible, and is not built on a few passages, ignoring the rest. To my spirit because it has taught me how to communicate with my Savior and feel close to him through the workings of the Holy Ghost. I have felt powerful testimony from the Holy Ghost that this church is true, meaning that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, God the Father and Jesus Christ truly appeared to him and charged him with building this church, and sacred messengers were sent to Joseph to restore truth and the power of God's priesthood.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in the church as the ward clerk, or head clerk of the congregation. I oversee all of the the financial records and membership records which is a good fit for my business background. When my boys were younger, I often served in the scouting program. I achieved the rank of eagle scout myself just after my 13th birthday - my Mom pushed me to get it done nearly as quickly as it is possible. My oldest son is a life scout, but the next two made it to eagle. Without grandma to push them they just made it by their 18th birthdays. Now I prefer to camp in my own bed.
