Hi I'm Mike.

I'm an ordinary guy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

l enjoy playing cards, eating out and anything political. I have always been inclined towards spirituality, but could never find anything that fulfilled me until I was taught the Restored Gospel. I was baptized a member of the Church in 2007.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have the assurance from the Spirit that this Church is true. I know that Joseph Smith was called of God to restore those basic truths to the earth that were once taught by Christ Himself. The practical teachings of the Church have helped me improve overall as a person. Although there are many Churches and many more Christians, I know the Restored Gospel is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith simply by trying to obey God's commandments. I mess up quite a bit, but I try. It's really the simple things that make the most difference. I try to read my Scriptures and pray daily. I accept opportunities to help out when needed. I avoid those things that deprive me of the Holy Spirit's companionship. I'm just an ordinary guy, doing ordinary things, trying to become more like my extraordinary Savior.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Mike.
NO. I am a Black man and I hold the Priesthood. Since becoming a member of the Church, I've received all the blessings and privileges available to any worthy member. The Church is a big family and you feel accepted and appreciated from the moment you enter the doors. Church members just love each other, no matter what their race or gender. Show more Show less

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Mike.
The short answer is Jesus Christ. After the Savior was crucified, His Apostles were rejected and His teachings were changed. Centuries passed and so did the truth He taught. In these last days, the Lord Jesus called the Prophet Joseph Smith to re-establish the fulness of His Church and teachings once again for us. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mike.
YES. The Bible is the inspired Word of God revealed through the Holy Spirit to Messengers of God on earth. We usually read from the King James Version. The Holy Bible together with the Book of Mormon gives us the full picture of God's plan for our present happiness and eternal salvation. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Mike.
President Thomas Monson is the mouthpiece and spokesman for God on earth today. He communes with God and guides the people of God like Moses did. We all can receive personal revelation from the Holy Spirit for our own lives, but President Monson is called of God to receive revelation to guide the entire Church on earth. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Mike.
Yes. Jesus Christ is the center of everthing we do and believe. We believe in Christ. I know that He is my personal Savior, and that here is NO other way to God our Father except through Him. We strive to emulate His example and follow His teachings the best we can, and rely on His grace and mercy to make up the difference.  Show more Show less
