Hi I'm Matt Fleming

Grew up wakeboarding, camping and fishing in Minnesota. Recieved a college degree and worked in IT. Now I'm a Mormon Missionary.

About Me

I am a college grad who loves the outdoors, playing piano, being on stage, and finding the next adrenaline rush. From killing bugs in your home to fixing bugs on your computer, I've done a lot of things to make a buck or two. I graduated in Business Management and hope to someday be a business consultant, or a corporate trainer. Right now, I am serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm hoping to help others come to enjoy the peace and happiness that I've found as an active member of the church. My relationship with my Savior and my understanding of the purposes of life have brought me courage, reassurance, strength, and peace. I'm so grateful to be able to serve the Lord. He truly does call the weak things of the kingdom to do His amazing work!

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I grew up in the church, I had to know if I really believed it for myself. Through prayer, I came to know that I really do have a Heavenly Father who knows me, loves me, and who understands the trials in my life. This didn't come until I opened up my heart and shared with Him what I was feeling and what I was going through. I came to know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is led by our Savior, Jesus Christ, through His living prophets and apostles, as I put their words to the test. One prophet, President Benson, made a specific promise about the Book of Mormon that I took to heart and it changed my life. "There is a power in the [Book of Mormon] which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path. The scriptures are called 'the words of life,' and nowhere is that more true than it is of the Book of Mormon." As I began to seriously study the Book of Mormon, this power, the grace of God, did begin to flow into my life. It was divine assistance that helped me overcome my weaknesses, achieve my goals, and become the person who I could not have become in any other way. I had weaknesses and trials that I struggled to sort out for years and through reading the Book of Mormon and praying, I recieved greater strength from God to overcome them.

How I live my faith

With the help of my family, I've paid my own way to serve a full-time, two-year mission. I have a wonderful girlfriend, an amazing job, and many other blessings that I've left at home. I'm humbled by the magnitude of my calling to be a representative of Jesus Christ, despite all of my imperfections. I have so much to learn but hopefully will prove a useful tool in the hands of the Master. One of the greatest lessons that I'm trying to learn day-by-day is how to love everyone I meet. I am grateful for the opportunity that my Savior has given me to learn, grow and become a better person as I try to teach His gospel to my brothers and sisters. Before I was a missionary, I really tried to develop my own personal relationship with the Savior. As I read the Book of Mormon and studied the Bible, I came to know Jesus Christ better, developed greater faith and hope, and was able to seek His strength and grace through prayer so that He could help me to become better. As I allowed the power of his atoning sacrifice to change me through faith and repentance, I found greater peace, confidence and happiness in life. I felt like I was finally becoming the person I'd wanted to be. Even though I'm still striving and fall short, I know in whom I have trusted. Having that personal relationship with my Father in Heaven and my Savior Jesus Christ has given me so much peace, strength, reassurance and hope. Now, as a missionary, I help others turn to Jesus Christ and experience it for themselves.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Matt Fleming
As a missionary, I bring a message of peace and hope that comes through Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. I also help people understand our Heavenly Father's plan for them: helping them understand where we came from before this life, why we're here on Earth, and where we're going after we die. Ultimately, the message helps those who hear it to come to know Jesus Christ and how through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all people will be able to return to live with our Father in Heaven again with our families.
