Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Kyle

I love to sing and act, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well, I was born and raised in Texas. I am Texan through and through. I used to ride horses all of the time, but lately I have been focusing on music and acting. I love to bring music into people's lives. Music is the universal language. I believe that the world of theatre and music provides an escape from reality and helps us forget about our own trials. As we watch the characters on stage, we can relate with them. I want to be a Broadway actor after I finish my mission and go to school. But right now I am a missionary in the Montana Billings Mission, and I absolutely love it!!!!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my whole life, but I have still had to know the truthfulness of this Church for myself. Since I was baptized at eight years old, I have been finding my own testimony of this Church and its' teachings. I can say that I know that this Church is true. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today, Thomas S. Monson. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. I know that by following Jesus Christ, we can return to live with our Heavenly Father. I know that through the Atonement of jesus Christ that all men can be saved.

How I live my faith

I am living my faith right now by serving a full-time mission for the Lord from October 2010 to October 2012. I have voluntarily given up two years of my life so that I can spread the message of Jesus Christ. By serving my mission, I know that Heavenly Father with bless me beyond belief. I am living my faith by doing what the Lord has commanded me to do.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Never. We are not biased towards any kind of race, culture, or anything that is different. ALL worthy men above the age of 12 can recieve the Priesthood. And anyone can be a member, if they are willing to follow God's commandments. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

The Mormon lifestyle is very similar to any other lifestyle. Members participate in community activities, politics, entertainment, and all other aspects of life. We love everyone, and are encouraged to be like jesus Christ. In reality, Mormons are just like everyone else. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Well, when we go to church, we dress very nicely to show respect for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Men wear suits and ties, and women wear dresses or skirts with blouses. But if you don't have anything like that, you are always welcome. We never look down on someone for not having the proper clothes. We do ask that you try to dress as modestly as you can. Now, we celebrate basically every holiday there is. We celebrate Christmas, Easter, Halloween, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, New Years, and any other holidays that are part of our country's traditions. We love to participate in all of those holidays. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No, they are not. Our Church strongly encourages all worthy young men to serve a mission when they are 19 years old. Some go at a later time, but 26 years old is the oldest you can be. Our Church also lets women go on missions when they are 21, but they aren't really expected to. And when there are older couples who are retired, they can serve missions together. And one thing to keep in mind is that no one HAS to serve a mission. Everyone who goes on a mission voluntarily goes. No one is forced. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

In some ways, the Word of Wisdom is like a health code. It is a commandment from the Lord, which states that we are not to drink alcohol, tea, coffee. We are not to use tobacco in any form, and we are never to partake of any illegal drugs. We can eat meat, but we should eat it sparingly. It also states that we are to have a healthy diet of grains, fruits, and vegetables. One thing about the Word of Wisdom is that it doesn't really restrict us, but it gives us the opportunity to live a very healthy life. When we follow this commandment, we keep our bodies clean and pure. The Word of Wisdom helps us to live longer and healthier.  Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No we don't. The reason you hear us talking about Joseph Smith so much is because he was called as a prophet of God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ back on the earth. To us he is very important, but we do not worship him. We worship Jesus Christ. We recognize the divinity of Christ. Joseph Smith was called as a prophet to speak for God just like Moses or Noah. Joseph Smith was a mortal man called to do great things. We are the Church of JESUS CHRIST, not Joseph Smith.   Show more Show less

What is the Law of Chastity?

The Law of Chastity is not having sexual realations with anyone until you are married. It also states that you are not to touch anyone inappropriately. You cannot live with someone of the opposite sex until you are married (obviously your family doesn't count). All of this is how we show respect for our bodies. The ability of procreation that Heavenly Father has given us is a very sacred gift. We are never to use that gift outside the bonds of marriage. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Everything! Everything that you see in this world is evidence that God exists. From the trees to the mountains, from the oceans to the moon, it all proves that God is real. I have also knelt down and asked in prayer whether there really is a God, and I have recieved my own answer. I know that God is real. You really don't have to look further than your own reflection. We are such amazing creatures, and I sincerely believe that we were created by God. God is real. He loves each and every one of us. He has created everything that is in the universe.
