Hi I'm Christa

About Me

I am the middle child from a family of 9 children with 3 brothers and 5 sisters. I am single and enjoy spending time traveling, working, visiting with friends, going to the gym, occasionally playing and watching soccer. I also enjoy watching basketball and hockey, movies - especially romantic comedies, and being with my nieces, nephews, and siblings. Reading self help, business and fiction novels but more realistically listening to them on CD/ipod is something I enjoy. I love to learn. My profession is in sales and most recently selling cars and it is so much fun. I enjoy beaches and warm weather. I am addicted to traveling and want to see the entire world before I die. I have traveled to Europe, Asia, Central America and Australia as well as various locations in North America. I spent time as a missionary in Taiwan and learned to speak Mandarin. I learned so much being there and also about myself and God. I would love to continue traveling and studying languages and cultures as an ongoing hobby throughout my life. I am very musical as well and enjoy singing, especially in choirs and playing the piano.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that God our Father and His son Jesus Christ really did appear to Joseph Smith. I have read the Book of Mormon so many times and I believe it is true. I have also learned that God answers prayers and that He loves me and that he will guide me. I know that we have modern prophets and apostles who are called of God and who are inspired to know how to lead and guide his church. I made the choice to be baptized when I was 8. I felt very peaceful. I have often reflected on that experience and felt impressed how at such a young age I had the distinct knowledge on my own of what I had done and that God was aware of me and gave me an answer for myself. The happiness I enjoy in life is a direct result of living the gospel and following the counsel of our living prophets. I have always found that it was easier to live God's standards than to not live them and that ultimately life is so much easier and happier when I do. I love that I have peace about who I am, where I am going and what my purpose in life is in the grand scheme of things. That doesn't mean that there are not individual questions and challenges - sometimes very difficult ones, unsureties or things to learn. We are all here to experience those. But being a Mormon gives what I believe are the correct answers to the purpose of life and why we are here and how to navigate it the happiest and most successful way possible. It is a great blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

I do a lot of things that we are encouraged to do as members of the church. It's like a set of instructions for a happier life: Prayer, daily scripture study, family home evening, service both in church and out! - serve wherever you can, loving my neighbours and strangers (I'm working on it!:) I try to do these things. It's a daily process. Besides praying in the morning and at night and over my meals, I frequently say a little simple prayer in my head throughout the day when I have a need. When I am facing a particular challenge or if I have a question I may include a fast as part of my worship and that can be at any time. Lately, I've used a very old method that has been simply effective in my life to say to myself, "What would Jesus do?" I'm amazed how this reflection brought a sharp change in attitude and intention recently. In addition, I enjoy serving in my community and at church. I served a mission in Taipei, Taiwan where we would teach people the gospel in their homes and also serve in the community - sometimes at hospitals or orphanages. It has been extremely rewarding and I love going back to visit. The people are loving and open with a rich culture. I go to church every Sunday and enjoy singing in the choir.
