Hi I'm Ben

I grew up in Utah. I am pursuing a masters degree in Middle East Studies. I speak Arabic, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for just over two years. My wife and I live in Virginia, and we both go to school. We like to invite friends over for dinner and we love Thai curry! I am pursuing a masters degree in Middle East studies. I have traveled to the Middle East a couple times and lived there many months. I enjoy learning about other countries, cultures and people.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I prayed and asked God if the religion was true, and I felt strongly that it was. Since that time, I have had my belief strengthened through many experiences and my own efforts at Gospel study. I think I would be atheist if it wasn't for this church. There are so many religions and sects of religions in the world and billions of people that believe very strongly in them, how could I know what was true without asking God?

How I live my faith

I do my best to live according to Christ's teachings. I like to help others, and I also have many opportunities to serve within my church. In the past, I have taught both adults and youth. I have even done far more simple tasks such as setting up chairs and tables for larger church activities.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a sum of a person's beliefs that have been verified by God. My testimony is that Jesus Christ is my savior, and that because of his sacrifice, I can be saved. I know that the church to which I belong teaches what Christ taught. I know that this church contains all of His teachings. I know that this church is His church. And I know that you can know it too.
