Hi I'm Trent
I'm a father and husband who loves my family. I hope to inspire my children to live a life of meaning. I'm a Mormon.
I am a father of 4 children and husband to a wonderful wife. We love spending time together because we believe that family is one of the most important things in life. After getting my MBA degree I've developed a career in marketing and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I've been blessed to have worked with tremendous people that provide unique perspectives each day. I'm currently serving as Scoutmaster to our local Boy Scouts of America troop of 17 scouts. I also had the opportunity to lead a troop of scouts to the Centennial National Boy Scout Jamboree (including 2 of my sons) and it was a fantastic experience. I love helping young men learn important values and engage in learning new skills. I also enjoy many hobbies that include soccer, reading, and board games. Our family currently does video reviews of family board games so other families can get ideas of great games to enjoy with their own families. We're known as The Board Game Family.
The biggest reason I am a Mormon is because living the gospel of Jesus Christ is a blessing in my life and makes me happy. I have found true joy by learning the teachings of Christ and living them as best I can. I am so happy for the knowledge I have about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all my life. But that doesn't mean that I'm just going with the flow. As most people do along the course of their life, I too had to discover for myself what I believe to be true about life and death - why we're here and where we go when we die. My feelings about God started at a young age and continue to this day. I know that there is a God. He created this beautiful world and everything upon it. I know that he is our Father in Heaven and that we are all his children. And like a loving father, he wants us to grow, progress and return to live with him again. But in order to grow and progress, we need to be tried. It was necessary for us to come to this world to gain a body and see if we would follow his ways. It's not always easy. But I know that it brings joy. And in living the gospel one day, it becomes easier to do so the next. Yet, we all make mistakes and don't always live up to the expectations our father has for us. But we're not without hope. And this is the biggest blessing of all. That God sent his son Jesus Christ to atone for our sins and prepare a way for us to repent of our sins and be resurrected to once again be able to enter the presence of God. Without a loving Christ, we wouldn't be able to make it. And there is great joy to be found in knowing that we can repent and improve. We can be blessed by keeping the commandments. We can have His Spirit to be with us all the time. We can feel joy throughout our lives.
I try to live my faith everyday. I believe that our actions and words are outward displays of our underlying beliefs. As such, I believe the first way to live my faith is through my thoughts. Daily prayer and scripture study are key elements to helping me control my thoughts and having Christ's spirit in my life. I also enjoy listening to inspiring music and attending church with my family every week. As a family, we also have daily scripture study and family prayer. And every Monday night we have Family Home Evening - where we discuss gospel topics and enjoy time together playing games and having treats. We also make it a point to have our dinner meal together every night. Of course, that isn't always possible, but we're able to more often than not because we make it a priority. I am also a leader in the Boy Scout organization and love helping boys learn and develop into responsible young men. Teaching others about values that have strengthened my faith will help them do the same. Our children participate in many activities and we strive to be supportive and take an interest in their interests. Thus, we help with schoolwork, sports, music, theater, and other such activities. We also contribute regularly to charitable organizations and help our neighbors where we can. One of the greatest ways we can have a meaningful and faithful life is in giving service to others.
