Hi I'm Jason

I'm an Electronics Engineer. My master's thesis was on "dark silicon." I love music, politics, and technology, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I work as an Electronics Engineer for the Air Force. I graduated with an M.S. in Computer Engineering, researching ways to make computer microprocessors more power efficient. I'm really into politics (I follow election polls like other people follow sports statistics). I also enjoy good music. I sing in choirs, play the piano and violin, and have even composed a few songs. I believe in becoming the best I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know He lives and loves me. He suffered, died, and was resurrected so that I can be forgiven of my mistakes, become a better person, and return to live with God after death. When Jesus Christ lived on the earth two thousand years ago, He established a church with prophets and apostles to help people live the way He taught them to live. In our day, the Savior Jesus Christ has established His church once more. That church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which He leads through living apostles and prophets. I am a member of this church because in it I learn how to truly know my Savior and follow Him.

How I live my faith

Because I love my Savior Jesus Christ, each Sunday I attend worship services. There we pray, sing simple hymns of praise, and teach one another how to follow the Savior. Together, we seek to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those around us. Every day, I pray to God thanking Him for the blessings of my life and asking for help and guidance in everything I do. I like to talk with Him about the specifics in my life. Because He is our Heavenly Father, I know He listens and answers. Each day, I also spend some time reading and studying holy scriptures such as the Bible and the Book of Mormon. One of the most important ways of living my faith is by following the example of Jesus Christ. He spent His time loving, helping, and serving other people. I enjoy doing things for others to show and develop a similar love.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Because God loves us, He wants us to know how to be happy. Throughout the history of the earth, the Lord has given people his teachings through faithful representatives called prophets. The Holy Bible is a collection of such teachings. It contains the writings of prophets like Moses and Isaiah. The Book of Mormon is also a collection of the teachings of holy prophets. These prophets lived in the ancient Americas. Their teachings were combined around 400 A.D. into one book by a prophet called Mormon. By the Lord's command, the writings were buried in the earth by his son, Moroni. In the year 1823, Moroni appeared as an angel to a young boy named Joseph Smith, whom the Lord had chosen to be a prophet in modern times. Moroni informed Joseph Smith of the buried writings, and Joseph Smith translated the record into English by the power of God. You can know for yourself that the Book of Mormon, like the Bible, is the word of God. While the Lord teaches us collectively through prophets, He teaches us individually through the Holy Ghost. God has promised that if you ask Him in prayer if the Book of Mormon is true, He will send the Holy Ghost to you to testify that it is true. You can read that promise on page 529 in Moroni chapter 10, verse 4. I have read the Book of Mormon and asked God in prayer if the book is true. God did answer me by the power of the Holy Ghost and confirmed the book's truth. The Book of Mormon has helped me grow closer to my Savior Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
