Hi I'm Alex

I grew up in Idaho not Iowa, I'm a missionary for my Savior in Uruguay, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a young buck with a lot of interests. One of my favorite things to do is come up with bizarre (but tasty) foods: Peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, 'batter burger', corndog hash, twinkie tacos, tortillas with honey and chocolate chips, etc. Try one! Anyway, I've always been an active guy, playing soccer on school and travelling teams as a teen. I love basketball, and even dabbled in cross country racing one year (never again, though!). I'm very logically inclined and plan to major in Mechanical Engineering, someday ultimately running my own businesses as well. I've been actively involved in Boy Scouts since I was eligible (It's really a good organization, despite the press and a few members who made bad choices). I'm an Idahoan through and through, and love the mountains and beauty of God's creations.

Why I am a Mormon

I guess the reason I associated with the LDS church originally was because the family I was born into and raised in is about as pro-typical Mormon as it gets. I learned all the basic doctrines as a child, participated in the social events, and did the service and volunteering associated with the church. It wasn't until my later teen years that I began to realize something that I never did as a child: The things that I have been raised to believe make me really, truly happy. All the time. Even when things are tough. The older I get the more I realize that the teachings of Jesus Christ, as restored to the earth today, all lead to eternal happiness. How could anyone deny something that great? I know it's true.

How I live my faith

As I devote my life to Christ, he gives me opportunities to prove it. I've been assigned to accompany (on the piano) countless worship songs, special musical numbers and choirs for many years. I've spent time leading and teaching other boys my own age the doctrines and disciplines of God, as they do the same for me. As a fun opportunity, I've participated in the church youth programs where I've been able to do tons of awesome camps, hikes, sports, career exploration, skills development, and faith building activities. My latest assignment is to serve as a full time representative of Jesus Christ among my brothers and sisters in Uruguay, and I am loving it!
