Hi I'm Susan

I love to dress up. I have an entire room dedicated to dress-up clothes. I have a brain tumor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I LOVE to dress up! When I was little, we had a packing box full of dress-up clothes. I decided that one day I'd have the coolest dress-up clothes box ever. My "box" turned into an entire room dedicated to dress-up clothes. You would not believe the great stuff you can get at thrift stores!! My husband and I started dating as we went to a Halloween dance as Han Solo and Princess Leia. Needless to say, we're always a big hit at Halloween! I've got a ping pong ball sized non-cancerous brain tumor. I've had 3 surgeries and cyberknife radiation. They didn't get much out, so for the rest of my life when we're playing one of those icebreakers games like "2 Truths and a Lie" I'll get to say I've got a brain tumor. Cool, huh?! The whole experience has changed my perspective on life, death & health issues. It has also made me truly grateful for the faith of my family as well as my work "family", & my church "family". I've only had to do this for a year so far and it's not my most favorite challenge. But I truly believe that being positive is the best way to get through it. I'm not going to lie - bawling your eyes out is appropriate sometimes, but being positive helps you get through it.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes sense to me... a Heavenly Father who loves me, commandments that keep me safe, a living prophet...   I feel good when I do what Heavenly Father wants me to do. I know Heavenly Father knows me and loves me and I love him!

How I live my faith

There are lots of ways I live my faith but one is getting to be a part of our young women's lives. I love it. We have church on Sunday where I get to spend an hour with them. And we have youth night once a week where we can spend an hour and a half learning something new, or giving service or fellowshipping. I love seeing these young women realize who they are and all God has in store for them. I know being a teenage girl can be so so hard. I want to be a support for each of them.
