Hi I'm Denali

So far in my life I've been Alaskan raised, a daughter, friend, listener, mentor, missionary, and student. Oh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Alaska and lived there most of my life. In 2011 I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to attend college to get a higher education. I attended LDS Business College. I love reading and writing (at one point in time I thought I was destined to be an English major; Heavenly Father had other plans for me). I love being outside and enjoying the beauty of the earth. I also really love taking pictures of scenery. I love singing and playing music. In my life I have played many instruments, but the one that has stuck with me and kept my interest is my voice. There's nothing quite as amazing as having the ability to always produce a melody by simply opening your mouth and letting noise project. I LOVE kids. In the past I've been a volunteer for field trips, I've worked in an elementary school library, and I've worked in a daycare. Kids are so amazing, and they teach you so much, all you have to do is be teachable. I'm a caregiver, a daughter, a friend, a granddaughter, a listener, a mentor, a sister, and a student.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me and they have shown me how to be happy and how to return to live with them. And the steps are so simple! We need to have faith in Jesus Christ, he certainly wants to help us as much as possible. We need to repent and tell Heavenly Father what our mistakes are and how we will become better. We need to be baptized so that we can make a lasting covenant with Heavenly Father. We need to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost so that it can help us realize our full potential and how we can reach it. And we need to endure to the end, relying on the Lord through prayer to help us on our journey. I know that by following the things Christ taught when He was on this earth it is possible to be happy and return to live with my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

In the past I have been able to help my community and been in leadership positions within my ward (congregation). I have been able to help organize activities where members of my ward (we are all single adults) can get to know each other better through game nights, etc. I have also been able to help organize activities where the ladies of the congregation got together and talked about ways to serve in the community.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is what we know is true. For example, Jesus taught that we need to be baptized and that baptism is the first step in following Him to be able to return to live with Him and Heavenly Father again. I KNOW that that is true. That is a testimony. It is a very small testimony, but this gospel is built upon little, small things. A testimony that we speak of is the knowledge of the truth of many things. The testimony is all of those knowledges combined into one bigger knowledge. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ shows His love for us. He not only came down and taught us how we should live. He tried to teach us, but many men let pride win. They rejected even Jesus Christ. He knew that God had a bigger plan, so He allowed wicked men to crucify Him. He paid the price, so that we can all be forgiven. He is the only one that could make this happen. He was the Son of God. Because of Him, we all have a second chance! We can be forgiven for our sins AND we can move forward with faith that Christ will assist us. Show more Show less
