Hi I'm Melanie

I 'm married and have two beautiful children. I love being outside camping and hiking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of two beautiful children and have a wonderful husband. My arms are always full! It's a good day when I leave the grocery store without my child throwing a tantrum. Family reunions are very important to me. I'd be willing to drive a thousand miles on my own with screaming kids just to be at a family gathering! I'm a teacher at heart. I taught at an elementary school before I had my first child. I love seeing excitement in a child's eyes when they understand something for the first time! My favorite past times include hiking, camping and playing the piano.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents taught me and my brothers and sisters from the Book of Mormon, Bible and other scriptures. They taught us that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that the scriptures were the word of God. I was about twelve when I had the desire to know for myself if what I had been taught was true. Earlier that day we had finished the Book of Mormon as a family, and I had read it on my own several times. At the end of the Book of Mormon there is an invitation given to all who read. It says "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." I had put off the challenge to pray to know if the Book of Mormon was true because I was a little nervous about being ready to receive the answer, but that night I knew that I needed to ask. As I knelt and prayed sincerely to know if the Book of Mormon was true and if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, I had a familure peaceful feeling enter my heart. The words to a song that I had sung as a child came to my mind. "I love to read the Holy Scriptures and every time I do, I feel the spirit start to grow within my heart, a testimony that they're true." I knew that every time I had sincerely read the Book of Mormon I had felt this same peaceful feeling. I knew that if I continued to read the Book of Mormon and live the gospel principles that I learned from it, I would be happy. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God called to restore the true Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. I know my Savior Jesus Christ lives, loves me, and knows me personally.

How I live my faith

My husband and I enjoy getting to know our neighbors. We live in a neighborhood where people move in and out often, so we get to meet lots of new people. We invite neighbors to come to our home to play games, or attend other community activities with us. My assignment in church is in the "ward mission," where I share the gospel of Jesus Christ. and I specifically help keep the ward mission organized with detailed record keeping and sending assigment reminders. I try to make monthly visits to women in my neighborhood that attend my church. I hope to be a tool in the hand of God to meet the needs of these sisters. I know that each of these sisters is a beloved daughter of God, and that her needs are important to him. As I serve those placed in my path, I am happy and filled with love. As I lovingly fulfill my responsibilities to my family and neighbors, I know that I am following the Savior Jesus Christ.
