Hi I'm Aaron

I'm an interior designer, a sustainability professional, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an interior designer, an artist, a father and a mormon. I chose this profession because it is half way between an architect and an artist. It pays more than fine art (I didn't like the "starving" part of artist) and there is not as much liability as an architect. I also chose to participate in designing sustainable spaces because we are taught to conserve our resources and not waste them. This is true for natural resources as well as money and food. I went to BYU where I met my wife, who was also an interior design major, and now we have 4 loving children. We now live and raise our family in Florida. It is great to live in the Southeast and enjoy the warm weather. We have a lot of friends of other faiths, and enjoy sharing ours and learning about theirs.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because our faith has the answers that I need to bring peace and perspective to my life and give me a good foundation to make decisions that will benefit myself as well as my family now and for the future.

How I live my faith

I am a councelor for the men in our congregation. We help our members by visiting families monthly to share spiritual messages as well as help their families when they need it. I also volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America in our Cub Scout pack as a committee member. We plan fun, learning activities that help our boys have a strong foundation for their lives. The gospel of Jesus Christ affects every decision I make from the things I say to the things I do. It is what brings good things into my life and peace to my family.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

I mostly get this question from people who know we no longer practice polygamy, but just want to get a rise. I don't have a problem with people asking me, which usually takes them off guard. There were a lot of assumed contributing factors to why we started practicing polygamy, but the only important reason is that the Lord commanded our prophet to do it. It was prudent at the time the Lord asked it of us and when it was no longer prudent, the Lord asked us to cease. Show more Show less
