Hi I'm Derek

I live in Pennsylvania and work as a university professor and as a psychologist. I have 5 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of five young children. My family gives me the greatest joys of my life. I am very blessed to be married to an incredible woman - our marriage of 13 years has been a wonderful journey together. I work as a clinical psychologist and university professor. I enjoy sports and spending time with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I view myself as a scientist and have certainly been trained as such. I want evidence of something before I will invest a great deal of time and effort. The reason that I am a Mormon is quite simple really. I have asked God if it is His Church, and I have received the clear answer (many times) that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I have so much evidence that it is true. The more experience I have in the Church, the more amazing the gospel becomes and I constantly receive witnesses from God that His hand is in this work.

How I live my faith

The way I live my life is shaped by my faith. I believe I should treat others fairly and with respect, both of which derive from my attempts to follow the commandments of Jesus. Prayer and scripture study are daily parts of my life, and together with my wife, we work to teach our children the gospel of our Lord. Our Church has a lay ministry, meaning that average, every-day members of the Church serve in all positions of the Church. It is currently my opportunity to lead our local congregation here. Most of my time other than with my family and work is devoted to serving in this capacity. I am fortunate that many members of the Church also serve in various capacities and all of us together help organize and run Church efforts in our area.
