Hi I'm Elysse

I am a child of God!

About Me

I love to play soccer, dance, read good books and just have fun. I love to play in general! I enjoy most music. I am shy but talkative once I am comfortable. I love to serve people! Traveling is one of my other loves because I love learning about other cultures! I've been blessed with many opportunities to travel and study abroad. My family is full of diversity, including Aunties from Honduras and Germany, a cousin from China, and an African American Uncle. I also like to cook, knit and do other crafts (not that I'm very good at any of it). Lifelong learning is integral to being happy, youthful and engaged! Generally, life is good even when its been tough.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the gospel, as we all are at some point. I have been influenced by the church from very early on. Growing up my best friends, "the twins", were LDS and I would accompany them to church activities once in a while. They moved away and I continued to go to various activities and took missionary discussions multiple times over the years. When another really close friend was leaving for his mission, he asked me to meet with the Elders one more time before he left. I, somewhat reluctantly, said I would since he was going to be leaving for 2 years. This time was different taking the lessons. I was actually thinking about what I was being taught, I was praying with real intent. All the years previous I had known in my heart that the church was true, it just took a (big) little push to actually take the steps to baptism. Now, being over five years into my membership, I am so happy. I am always working on my testimony and continue to gain bits and pieces as I go. I am grateful for all that the church offers. Living the commandments is such a blessing and truly makes me much happier! Even though my family did not join with me I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for everything to work out. He wants all his children to be happy and know that we are loved. We are all children of God.

How I live my faith

I LOVE going to church and all church activities. It is so wonderful to be around people who have the same values and to participate in uplifting activities. The best way to live in faith, is to make your decisions early and before difficult decisions arise. If you already know how you are going to react its much easier to stand your ground! I currently am called as the Relief Society (the women's organization within the church) secretary. As a Relief Society Secretary I assist the presidency in planning activities every few months to strengthen the sisters in my ward in the gospel and make sure the sisters have what they need to live the gospel. Every calling in the church is reaching out to people and loving them for who they are. The best way to live in faith is to have the pure love of Christ in your heart and then you can do anything! All my callings have brought me so many opportunities to meet new people and share the gospel in varying degrees. Its hard work to make good choices and be available to listen to the Holy Ghost and His promptings, but it gets easier as you make good choices!
