Hi I'm Joe

I am a Husband, a Father of 6, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 43 years old and have been married to my beautiful wife Nyla for 21 years. We have six children five girls and one boy. I love my family and enjoy spending as much time with them as possible. We love to play games together, go to the lake, play all kinds of sports, and have as much fun as possible. I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis since I was 18. I have had both hips replaced, both knees replaced, a foot fused, my neck fused, and just had my tendon to my thumb re-attached - all due to the arthritis. I am so grateful to be living at a time when these things can be done and I have been greatly blessed to learn from all of them.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon and I am still a Mormon because I know that this is Jesus Christ's Church on the Earth! I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who wants us to be happy - just as we want our children to be happy! He has made it possible for us to be happy in this life by giving His Son as a sacrifice. Because of the Savior, we can repent, be baptized, and live happy lives with our families - even as we continue to make mistakes, we can repent and gain even greater happiness as we continue to learn and grow! Even more than that, our families can be eternal and be together forever because of our Savior and our Father in Heaven who made it possible! Despite all of the challenges of our day and all of the bad that is happening in the world, the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ can bring us hope and great joy!

How I live my faith

I feel I can best live my faith when I am home with my family! I try to show my gratitude for all of my blessings from our loving Heavenly Father by serving others around me as well. I get to work with an amazing group of young single adults at church and I am greatly blessed by their love and examples! Our oldest Daughter Kaylee, is serving a mission for the Church in Southlake, Texas and she is absolutely loving it! She loves the people there and the experiences she is having!

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon has brought great joy to my life! I love to spend time with my family! We try to follow Christ's example and serve others in our families, our neighborhoods, and in our communities. Service helps me to forget about any problems I may have, and focus on helping others. It also helps me see that my problems aren't so bad. We can always find someone that is worse off than us and it helps me be more grateful and happy. I love to serve in the Church as well where there is no paid ministry and all teachers and leaders are on a volunteer basis. Just tonight my 16 year old son and I went to the neighbors house to home teach them. Home teaching is a responsibility we have where we are assigned individuals or families to teach monthly and ensure their wellness. We talked for a while asking them how their family is doing and then my son gave them a spiritual message about how obedience to the commandments brings blessings. There is no better way to learn as when you are preparing to teach others. What a great opportunity to see a 16 year old young man teaching Gospel principles to a great neighbor family. Being a Mormon means that no matter where you go in this world, the Church is going to be the same same doctrines taught, the same organization, and the same opportunities to serve. I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I can't imagine how empty my life would feel without it! Show more Show less
