Hi I'm Ben

I'm a guitar playing, music writing road inspector, and i'm a Mormon

About Me

I have been married for just over seven years now, and on August 18th, 2010, we had our first child. It has been a wonderful experience thus far being a dad and a husband. Music has always been a big part of who i am, and now my little girl loves when i sit in front of her and play my guitar. I love the way she just sits in calmness and listens. I am about 7/8th of the way through college and have been working off and on while going to school for my BA in mathematics. I hope to be able to teach math in the near future, cause i love teaching. I have taught several different sunday school classes, and have really grown to love seeing that light in people when they grasp a new concept, or understand an old one better. I love to play disc golf. If you've never done it, look into it and go play. There are few things I enjoy more than going out into a park by the Mississippi river with my friends and playing a round of disc golf. I also enjoy writing music. I'm not all that great, but it fells good to create, to produce something that can be preserved and enjoyed for many years to come. I always struggle to write words to my music, so it is usually just chords and melody. I love being with my family. They are what i cherish. That's just a little about me.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined this church a few years before i was born, and i am the youngest child. Two of my brothers joined at that time also when they were teens, and my sister and I grew up in the church with our parents. So from birth, i began to learn about Heavenly Father and the plan for how to return home to him. Even though i grew up being a Mormon, it wasn't really till i was 16 when I began to truly search things out for myself and try to understand what i had been taught all my youth. I was a missionary for 2 years in Québec, Canada. There, I learned how to lose myself in the service of others. I was a shy kid, and the thought of going door to door and attempting to share truths with people i didn't know was a bit unsettling. But the more I talked with people about Jesus' sacrifice for us, for them, I began to see these "strangers" as friends. We are all children of a loving Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I work with the youth program at church. There is never a dull moment doing anything with them. Sundays I teach lessons from the scriptures to them and I enjoy discussing what the Savior taught. This holds true with my family too. The principles of having faith, hope, being charitable, patient, humble, are all things that help me be better, and feel at peace each day. I see washing dishes, changing diapers, and waking up at 3am to tend to our little one through kinder more loving eyes because of the life giving truths that Christ taught. I am happier than I ever have been in my life, and I only expect things to get better.
