Hi I'm Chris Travis

I'm a Mormon. I was fortunate to have someone that cared enough about me to show me the true Church.

About Me

I am a Mormon convert. I was fortunate enough to have a friend that cared enough about me that he shared the church with me and exposed me to it. I love life and my vocation is electronics and computers. I specialize in computer networks and software support. I have been working with computers for more than 25 years and I hope that if someone asks me a question that I can answer it and hopefully help that person accomplish their goals in life. Since becoming a Mormon I have been so richly blessed. During times when I was not active within the church I knew that something was missing. I will never be inactive again.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the overwhelming and insurmountable spirit that I felt while listening to a Prophet of God. I was able to hear President Kimball during a broadcast and was so moved that I knew I had to learn more about the Church and eventually become part of the only true church. It wasn't President Kimball's words that converted me because honestly I can't remember them. It was his ability to impart his knowledge and spirituality to those that were listening. After investigating the Church I was so moved by the spirit that I knew that this was the place I had to be and I have never looked back since.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life in the example of the Saviour. I know that I fail at times but I also know that through His teachings that I can become a better man and perhaps inspire others to live their lives in according to His teachings. When I was called as a High Priest I had the additional blessing to be ordained by someone that also thought enough of me to never give up on me. I am currently serving as the Second Counselor to The Bishop in my ward and as such I am holding myself to a higher standard. Perhaps others don't see it but I know in my heart that with new callings and the blessings that go with it there are new responsibilities and as such I need to strive to be a better man. I have served in numerous capacities since becoming a member. In each calling I seem to grow more from the calling than expected. I will never say no to a calling because it is my belief that if I am called it is because I need that experience to move closer to my Heavenly Father. I love the church and all it stands for. As I said before I have been richly blessed and each day I am able to do the Lord's work I am blessed that much more. This is a church about family and serving our fellow man. I look forward to each and every new adventure and calling no matter what it may be.

What is the priesthood?

Chris Travis
The Priesthood to me is the most important calling in my life. With the authority of the Priesthood I am able to perform the ordinances that the Saviour performed and do them in His name. With the Priesthood and the inspirations of the Holy Ghost I am able to help build a strong family and help build His Church. Being able to perform the Priesthood duties is so important to me. The main purpose of the Priesthood to me is the ability to help others. I honor and respect my Priesthood and hope that I will never do anything otherwise. Being able to perform anything in His name is something that can only be experienced and when you do experience it, you will know just how important it is. Show more Show less
