Hi I'm Liesl

I'm a Wife, a Mom, a designer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Most people tell me I look like someone they know. I get that alot. Perhaps it is my somewhat mobile background. I was born in Germany to American parents. Raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA and Ohio, USA. I've lived in Utah, Colorado, Minnesota and have traveled the world. I love to travel, meet new people, have new experiences and create. My degree is in Industrial Design and I still dream of doing it everyday, but the job I have right now is fulfilling another dream-I get to be a Mom.

Why I am a Mormon

Some people are born with it, some earn it, and some seek it. I could not, in all honesty, be a member of this church without completely believing it's precepts. Everywhere I go, everywhere I've lived, I've seen what can be and what is good. Nowhere else have I seen so much good in one place. No where else on earth can I find the peace and anchor for my soul, except in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Does that mean I'm perfect, certainly not, but I hope to be the absolute best I can be. Because I was born to members of this church means I need to honor my past and find out for myself what is true and right. I know this is true. I know this is right. I know that Christ lives and loves all of us, and that he is real.

How I live my faith

Everyday I choose to follow teachings of Jesus or not. Every day I choose how to live the gospel. It isn't always easy. There are challenges. Some of the greatest are the looks I get from fellow designers or friends, not of my faith, when I express what I believe. For many of those, it is acceptible to have a belief outside of mainstream culture, but to believe in religion is not acceptible. That's okay. To each his or her own. Some people have to look for opportunities to volunteer in their community, I get to serve every week. Many of my experiences in the church have been volunteering with teens, adults, children and entire congregations. Not many people can say they have done that before the age of 20, but I did and still do. I get to volunteer at my children's school, I get to serve in local organizations and I get to serve in my church--because of what I believe--that every person is important!

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The Mormon Prophet today is Thomas S. Monson. He's a neat guy, I've met him. Very personable, good and a great story teller. He also is a great servant. He is dedicated to the needs of the individual and what he can do FOR someone, not what he can get from someone. That is the best kind of leader. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The "Word of Wisdom" is a covenant or promise between men and God. In it, we are promised that if we take care of our bodies a certain way, God will give us gifts, including good health and wisdom. I don't know about you, but I could use all the wisdom I can get! Some people refer to it as a health code, but it is much more than that. It is a way to preserve the gift of our bodies so that we can become more as individuals. Does that mean we'll always have perfect health, no. It means that our faculties will be optimised no matter what the situation. The gifts are not dependent on sickness but upon obedience. Anyone can follow it and anyone can recieve those gifts.
