Hi I'm Jenny

Four children call me "mother". My calling is to teach and nurture. Singing beautiful music is a thrill for me. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was excited to turn 30 because I hoped I'd finally feel like an adult. My husband and I have 4 small children, ages 7, 5, 3, and 2. I stay at home with my two youngest while my older two are in school, and generally wipe noses and bottoms, follow little ones around cleaning up after them, stop fights, boss everyone around, read tons of stories, jump on our trampoline, feed people, and feed people, and feed them again. Many might look at my life and think that it is plain and ordinary (or boring,) but when I consider what I'd rather be doing with myself - nothing holds a candle to my role as a wife and a mother. It is sometimes more overwhelming than I think I can handle, but nothing has ever brought me greater joy. When I truly embrace the gift that it is to be a mother, the mundane tasks don't seem near as tedious, and the unimportant distractions seem to melt away. I enjoy singing, hiking, knitting, reading, fishing, skiing, camping, going on family bike rides, coloring, going on dates with my husband, and building forts or Legos with my kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a strong Mormon family as the 4th of 8 children. My mother taught me by her example how to gain a knowledge of God and His role in my life. I am a Mormon because I know that I am a child of God and that He loves me. I know that He desires me to follow His commandments and have a fullness of joy that can only be given to me by the redeeming power of His Son's atoning sacrifice for mankind. I am a Mormon because the words that are found in the Book of Mormon and accompanying scripture speak peace to my soul. In my heart and my mind, I can feel that the teachings are true. I am a Mormon because I NEED our Savior Jesus Christ. I want to show Him, by my devotion, that I love and honor Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching my children daily of our accountability and responsibility to God. My decisions are influenced by my knowledge of what God's plan is for His children, and I hope to help my children to have an eternal perspective. I try to behave in a way that keeps me aligned with His will so that I can have the companionship of His Holy Spirit with me. I fail often, but I refuse to berate myself, and instead I choose to have hope in Jesus Christ and faith that his Atonement can make me a better person. I try to serve and appreciate those around me. I have found the sisterhood within the women's organization of the church has been a lifeline for me. The times when I struggle, I can count on the love and help of my sisters in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I serve as a secretary in that organization, and I am blessed to be able to help and support the women in their endeavors. I have served a number of years with the young children of the church as well. Oh, the sweet songs that we sing, and the simple and pure truths that are taught!
