Hi I'm Jeffrey

I work in an Emergency Department as a Nurse Practitioner, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my best friend for over 17 years, and we have five beautiful children! I enjoy listening to and playing jazz. I grew up in Texas, and have been blessed to live in Virginia, Louisiana, and Iowa. I work as a Nurse Practitioner in an Emergency Department, and I have the unique opportunity to see how science and faith can work together on a daily basis.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of this church. My parents (also Mormon) always encouraged me to make good choices and to make education a priority. As I devoted my college career to the study of medicine, I was continually amazed at the magnificent design of the human body. I was also in awe of the beautiful majesty all around me; in the mountains, in the sunsets, in the way the wind blows across the hot Texas prairie, and in the quiet moments when I prayed. I knew there had to be a Creator. And I realized the things that I had been taught in church throughout my life made sense. - Heavenly Father hears and answers my prayers. - I am loved by my Savior, Jesus Christ, and He knows me by name! - The Book of Mormon truly is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ," and it was translated by a prophet of God. - Joseph Smith was that Prophet, and he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ in the 1800's just as he claimed. - The Church of Jesus Christ was restored through Joseph Smith, and is teaching the fullness of the Savior's gospel. - The church is led today by a prophet of God: Thomas S. Monson. - I have come to know my Savior, and I am humbled by all that He has done for me. - I have been sealed to my family for eternity, and our relationship will not be dissolved at death. I know this church teaches the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, and as I live obedient to His commandments, I am blessed with peace and happiness. I have also learned the answers to life's most important questions: Where did I come from? Why am I here? What happens to me and my family after death?

How I live my faith

I serve as a Primary chorister, and I have the wonderful opportunity to teach children (ages 3-11) songs to help them better understand how to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have also worked with the youth (ages 12-18). The secret of success in High School?: Knowing who you are and making choices that are based on principles. The more young people live the gospel, the happier they are!

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Jeffrey
When you invite the missionaries into your home, you may notice a feeling of peace and warmth that they bring. They will share the basic principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They will teach you about faith, repentance, obedience, and how to communicate with your Father in Heaven. They will talk about Jesus Christ, modern-day prophets, scriptures, and revelation. They will discuss about the Book of Mormon, which is a collection of the writings of prophets that lived in the American continent. Most of all, they will talk about our Father's plan of happiness, and how you and your family can come closer to God. Sure, they will be sharing a lot of information with you, but it will be important for you to listen with your mind and your heart. You may notice the things they talk about ring true. It may make sense to you. You may feel a warmth in your chest. You may feel like you are recalling memories and events from the past that you haven't thought about for a long time. This feeling is very important for you to identify, for this will be how the Spirit testifies that what you are hearing is the truth. Show more Show less
