Hi I'm Paul

I'm an anesthesiologist. I'm a Mormon. I've taken a leave from my practice to serve for 3 years as a mission president.

About Me

I've been an anesthesiologist at a community hospital for 29 years. I've been married to the same incredible woman for 35 years, and we have 6 children and 14 grandchildren. I love to read. I love to try different foods. I love ice cream. My wife and I have taken a leave from my practice and moved away from our home to answer a call to serve as a mission president for the Church. It is a 3 year, full-time, unpaid position to supervise, train, and help 290 or so missionaries share the message of the restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I've found great understanding and meaning in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It is an anchor in my life. It helps me keep things in perspective and keep my priorities straight. It is the framework for my values. It helps me find peace in this troubled mixed-up world. There is a way to find answers to life's questions and be sure they are true. It is through the Holy Ghost, the same way you can know if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is really true. It comes from reading and pondering the truths found in the Book of Mormon, and asking God if that book is true, if it came from Him.

How I live my faith

Our missionaries volunteer their full time and pay their own way to serve for 18 months to 2 years. They are extended a call to serve by the President of our Church, a prophet, and assigned to serve in a metropolitan area under the supervision of a Mission President. That's where I come in. My duties are to help them with their service by training them, encouraging them, watching over their health and well being, and being a resource in any way I can, so they can serve in the community (without pay) and teach the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, the same message He taught when He was on earth, and the same message prophets have taught since Adam and Eve. Although it can be challenging, I am thrilled to have this chance to serve. It comes with some heartache, but also incredible blessings of happiness and joy. There is nothing I know like it!
