Hi I'm Shanna

I'm a mom to four amazing children. I love sunshine, blue skies, reading good books and writing and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 40 year old mom to 4 beautiful children. I was sealed in the temple and was married for 14 years before going through a divorce. After 7 years of being single and active I was married to a wonderful man in 2010. Although life presents challenges everyday I am happy to be a wife, mother, sister and aunt. I have a wonderful job in the health care industry, which allows me to be of service to others and that brings me the greatest amount of joy. I also love to write and am working on getting back into school to work towards a bachelors in Journalism.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was baptized at 8, I did not gain a testimony of His gospel until I was in my mid 20's. My parents were inactive when I was young so I did not attend primary, but as I got older we began going to church. I attended young women's and there is where my testimony began to bud. It wasn't until I became an adult and had to make a choice as to how to live my life and raise my own family and that began my search to know for myself whether or not this was indeed His gospel and if it was true or not. I will never forget that time in my life where I searched, pondered and prayed to know if Joseph Smith had indeed seen the Father and His son Jesus Christ. I also prayed to know if I really was a daughter of God and if He indeed knew me by name. As I searched through scriptures, other books written by prophets and apostles, a stirring within me began. I remember kneeling one morning in my bathroom when I was 25 years old and I asked again if I truly was of divine worth and if I was loved by a Father above. The feelings, emotions and deep gratitude I felt at that moment will never be forgotten. From that moment on I chose to follow my Savior Jesus Christ, and the peace I am able to feel cannot be compared to anything else in this world. I know that He lives, I know we are His children. I know entering a temple of our Lord literally is His house and I feel honored, blessed and humbled to be a member of this great and wonderful church.

How I live my faith

I do not profess to be perfect, nor will I ever become perfect in this life. However, I try my best each day to keep the Savior in my thoughts and to ask myself each day what would the Savior do? Or, how would He handle this situation? This has helped me get over many obstacles I have had to work through and will continue to work through. For me, teaching my children to love one another, and judge not. For me, being a member of His church is not just a Sunday based faith. I try my best to live the gospel each day of the week, each hour and moment of everyday and while I have many faults to overcome I know it is my faith that keeps me going, especially when days, weeks, months or years might be difficult. My faith allows me to hope and continue to climb those hard mountains that we must all climb. I would not be the wife, mother, sister, aunt or friend that I am without my faith. It is who I am and something I never take for granted.
