Hi I'm Jesse

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

There are many things that I enjoy doing. I love playing hockey and tennis. Watching college football is also something that I enjoy. I love the outdoors, hiking, backpacking, and camping as well. But I think I most enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am currently a college student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Utah and was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Growing up in a good home with great parents gave me the opportunity to learn correct principles. I also gained knowledge about Jesus Christ and the religion that I was raised in. Even after gaining all of that knowledge, however, I never gained my own testimony of Jesus Christ and His Church until I prayed and asked God for myself if it was all true. My testimony of Jesus Christ is the most precious thing that I own. I know that He suffered and died for me and each and every one of us. I also know that He was resurrected and that He lives today. His Church was lost from the earth for a time, but I know that it was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. He was a true prophet of God. The ancient book of scripture that he translated through the gift and power of God, The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, is a true book of scripture. And I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today. As I prayed about these things to know of their truthfulness, Heavenly Father answered my prayers through The Holy Ghost. I continue to be most grateful for my testimony and knowledge of Jesus Christ and His restored Church.

How I live my faith

I participate in my local ward (congregation) by teaching the five and six-year-old children in Primary (Sunday school for children). I enjoy teaching these young children about Jesus Christ, His Gospel, and His restored Church. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a high emphasis is put on charity and serving others. I love being able to help others with anything that they need. I am grateful that my Heavenly Father allows me to have so many opportunities to serve others. Happiness comes into my life and into the lives of those I am able to serve when I show charity.

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the power and authority to act in the name of God. Prophets in the Old Testament were given the priesthood so that they could receive direction from God for the entire earth. In the New Testament, Christ gave the priesthood to His Twelve Apostles. This gave the apostles the power and authority to lead Christ's Church after Christ had left the earth. Sadly, the people rejected the apostles and their teachings. When all of the apostles died, the priesthood was no longer on the earth. But, this same priesthood was restored to the earth in 1829 AD. It was given to Joseph Smith by three of Christ's original apostles, Peter, James, and John. This gave Joseph Smith the power and authority to lead and direct Christ's restored Church.
