Hi I'm Tom

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of six and have been married to the absolute love of my life for... well a long time, but not long enough! I have been a computer professional for more than thirty years and am currently the manager for an outsourced Help or Service Desk. But that’s not all I have done. I have been a mechanic, a food packaging and line mechanic, an electrician's apprentice, a carpenter/cabinet maker’s apprentice, a day care worker and I even built Ovation guitars for a time and have been a singer/song writer. I have studied electrical engineering and several physical sciences as well a myriad of computer related disciplines to support my current endeavors.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending a different denomination but was always very frustrated when I could not get satisfactory answers to questions that were very important to me. It wasn't like my family or I didn't take part in that church. My dad was the superintendent of Sunday School for almost twenty years and I used to make rounds with the pastor as a young teenager. I felt I had a good relationship with God, but there was still something missing and I couldn't get to where I felt I should be. In my later teen years I fell away from that church while formulating a list of things that I felt were very important for "my church" to have or be able answer. When I started to meet with the missionaries they addressed everything on my list, and they didn’t even know it! Now that made me sit up and take notice. I accepted their challenge to pray and ask God if what they were teaching were true or not. I received my answer. It is true! And now, more than thirty years of practicing later, I can tell you that it is still true. God does live, He loves us and the heavens are open.

How I live my faith

Being an Eagle Scout, I try working with and serving the youth... both young women as well as young men. A listening ear, without judgment, can be the biggest service that some of these wonderful young people need or desire. It works pretty well for adult too. From there, trying to help them feel the love their Heavenly Father has for them is one of the most joyful experiences I can suggest. Treating everyone how I would like to be treated to te best of my ability is how I so my faith to God and to those around me.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

When the family, and especially a husband and wife, share a faith in the Lord they will draw closer together as they each draw closer to the Lord. That closeness will influence each person to become more centered on serving each other in the relationhip rather than just themselves which will improve any situation. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

All our faith should be in the lord Jesus Christ. He is light, the way and the example that we should all follow and try to be like. Our growing faith in Him will lead us to do the right things for ourself, our family, and our community. He really is the way back to the Father! Show more Show less
