Hi I'm John Brinkerhoff

I'm a husband, a father, an educator, a business leader and, not as an afterthought, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I live in Syracuse, Utah and have three wonderful children. I enjoy the outdoors, U.S. History and feel passionate about my career as an educator focused on personal financial literacy. I am a leader in business and industry and have an interest in most things military and political in nature.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church but like all individuals had to know for myself whether or not what I had been taught about Jesus Christ and His restored gospel was true. My testimony took personal root within me as I began to purposefully live the teachings of Jesus Christ that I had been taught through the years of my youth. This began to happen in earnest following High School and into early adulthood where I have come to know with surety that what I was taught during my childhood and beyond is indeed true. In fact, the doctrine has extended my understanding of who I was previous to my life here on earth and has answered my questions about both the purpose of my life on earth and what I expect as my life continues after my eventual mortal death. Central to my testimony is a knowledge of the importance of my family and a knowledge that my family relationships can and will be perpetuated beyond the grave. All of this, of course, is made possible by exercising faith in Jesus Christ and by receiving, by proper authority, all the revealed gospel ordinances through which covenants to this end are made both outside of and then eventually inside of the magnificent Temples that now dot the earth. Through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ I have been promised possibilities eternally that I could not have gained on my own. Such promises are available to all who will receive them. How I live my faith

The foundation of living my faith is rooted in my daily choices to try to follow the example of and to live the teachings of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Sharing the fullness of the restored gospel with others brings me happiness and helps to strengthen my faith in or trust in God. I pray to communicate personally with my Father in Heaven in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ. I study the scriptures (both the Bible, The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and other modern-day scriptures revealed through modern day prophets). I attend weekly worship services where I pray to, commune with and am taught and instructed relative to the Savior, Jesus Christ and His gospel as contained in the scriptures. I try to remain sensitive to the needs of those around me in my community and I provide service to those around me when I am able. Living in this way brings me happiness and a sense of deep peace that certainly weathers well the storms common to us all in life.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

John Brinkerhoff
Reading the Book of Mormon is a singularly important experience. The Book of Mormon was compiled by the prophets called by God to lead the people of the ancient Americas and contains the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in clear, undiluted terms. The record supports and sustains the effacacy of the Holy Bible and makes clear that God still calls prophets and still has a vital interest in His children today just as he has had from the beginning. The record, translated by the prophet Joseph Smith makes clear doctrines and principles pertaining to our happiness both now and in the eternities that have been lost in the multiple translations of the Bible. This record, more true to it's souce, is the source of light, knowledge and truth that can only be fully appreciated through daily reading and application to the every day living of our lives. I recieve peace, comfort, direction, guidance and additional insight into life's most fundamental questions as I continue to read and ponder these great cannons of scripture. These records give me, as well, a mechanism whereby I can instill the truth and values of the Gospel in my children (as we read together daily) so that they will have the only sure foundation upon which happiness can be built.
