Hi I'm Deb

I'm a life long Mormon. I'm a mother of 5, a grandmother, a widow and a small business owner.

About Me

I'm a Mom of 4 adult children, one teenager and 5 grandchildren. I went to college right out of high school, but dropped out to get married. After my last child was born I went to work in a childcare center, then went back to school in 2005. I continued to raise my 5 children but in 2010 my husband of 28 years passed away suddenly of a heart attack and we were devastated! After lots of prayer I decided to leave my job so that I could put my family back together and I've recently opened my own preschool and childcare center.

Why I am a Mormon

I am blessed to have grown up in this church and I am very active in the church because I have felt Heavenly Father throughout my life. I know that He knows me personally and that He loves me and cares for me. Even though my husband's time on this earth is through, I know that He will continue to love me, care for me and help me (and our children) get through this. We are being blessed. I know that I will be with my husband as his wife in the next life and that families are an eternal unit.

How I live my faith

At church I get to teach the 3 year old children and I love it! Teaching children about the very basics of the gospel has been a great testimony builder for me. I knew that it was Heavenly Father's will for me to begin a childcare center but I truly didn't know how to do it. With lots of prayer, and one task at a time, and even more prayer, my center is now going and I'm happy. I know that Heavenly Father that has taught me how to live without my husband, be a single mom and how to start my business. I'm amazed that Heavenly Father trusts me to do all of this! Without Him, none of this would be possible.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

My son left for his mission for 3 weeks before his Dad, my husband, passed away. He chose to stay on his mission which I honored. Our son had earned much of the money for his mission, and we were going to fund the rest of it. I continued to do what I could, but we have many people, both members and non-members who had asked if they could help contribute money for his mission. This is sacred money and I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to help him financially, and for those who asked to help too. Show more Show less
