Hi I'm J.J.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a descendant of Mormon pioneers and grew up in Salt Lake City in a typically large Mormon family with 5 brothers and sisters. Family is central to the gospel and I love mine! I was married to my wife for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. We have a 2-year old daughter and a son on the way. At a recent family reunion with 4 generations present, we discovered that our daughter is #130 to join the Haglund family since my grandparents were married. I'm proud to be part of such a righteous legacy.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many people who were raised in the church, I was baptized when I was 8. My faith in Jesus Christ and my testimony of the Gospel and of the Restoration has been growing ever since. When I was 19 I decided to serve a mission and I was called to serve in Recife, Brazil. As I dedicated those two years of my life to the Lord, I witnessed powerful changes in many people's lives, including my own. The Restored Gospel truly is incredible, powerful, and life-changing. I have no doubt that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and that God calls prophets today. My life has been extremely blessed because of this knowledge, and that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love the saying "every member a missionary." Ever since my two years in Brazil, I have loved missionary work and helping people realize that true, lasting happiness comes from living Gospel principles. One of the things I love to do most is travel. When I travel, I've noticed that people tend to be very curious about my culture and my religion. "You're from Utah so are you Mormon?" "How did you learn to speak Portuguese?" "Who's Mormon?" I find that explaining little things like the actual name of the church, why we give up two years of our lives to go on missions, and helping people realize that we are just normal people living normal lives can help the missionary effort in a big way.

Are Mormons Christians?

J.J.
Absolutely! The real name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We believe that Christ is our Saviour and this is HIS church! Show more Show less
