Hi I'm Roger Sr.

I was raised in a children’s home. I love doing genealogy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've had four kids. I married a beautiful, spiritual woman. I have 12 grandkids, 2 great-grandsons, and I love them all. I love to play Santa Claus at the church, Wal-Mart, and in head start. I love doing genealogy. I've always been active, but injuries have slowed me down. I was raised in a children’s home. My aunt was one of the people who took care of me. Before then, I lived with my grandparents. My father died while I was young.

Why I am a Mormon

I lived a hard life. I used to drink. I was an alcoholic and at the time, my two girls were getting baptized. I didn't care about the church; I was just letting them do their thing. So, the day before their baptism, I got into drinking and a fight. That showed me that Satan had ways of trying to destroy what I was letting the girls do. At the time I said I would investigate the church. After the baptism, I did investigate the church and I found out by fasting and praying that the church was true. My wife And I was baptized in May 1978. I had a clear understanding of the current prophet, who at the time was Spencer W. Kimball. I know that prophets are real. I know that they are on the Earth today, in this generation of time. That is my faith. Now I know that Joseph Smith was, and is, a true prophet. I know that all the prophets before him, and after him, have been true prophets of God. If you listen to the prophets, you'll know what you need to do. Even though sometimes it's hard to do, ha-ha.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings in this little branch I live in. I was not able to read very well and my first calling was in the Priesthood as a teacher. I learned how to read through my calling. It gave me the opportunity to gain courage. It gave me the teachings I needed. I learned with the help of others in the church. I was a leader and teacher of the young men. I was a secretary to the branch president. I was an assistant clerk. I learned a lot of new things. I was a school drop out, and these callings gave me the courage I needed to learn and eventually I went and got my G.E.D. It helped me encourage my kids to get through school because I learned the importance of it. I'm still learning even today! Now, I'm in charge of the missionaries in my branch. I know that missionary work is very important in the church. I know that the missionary work is very important and that's why I help as much as I can!

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Roger Sr.
It is for our salvation! So that we can get back to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and live with them again. Think about sending one of your sons out on a mission, knowing what he has to go through, but because you love him, you allow him to learn on his own. "For God so loved the World that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. I know that Jesus suffered much through the atonement, not just the physical pain, which caused Him to bleed from every pore. But the mental and spiritual strain that He went through as He took upon Himself all the sins, sufferings, sickness and pains of the entire world, from Adam and Eve all the way down to you and me, every single person that lived here on this Earth! He did this so that He can understand all that we go through and so that He can relate to us and be able to judge us in the life here after. I testify that these things are true! Show more Show less
