Hi I'm Christie

I'm a wife and mother, college graduate in psychology, and I'm a mormon

About Me

I am a mother to one child in heaven, a beautiful daughter, and a baby on the way! I love education and am very proud of my bachelors degree that I accomplished at a local university. I love fitness and hard workouts! Anything that can stretch me to be more than I am now is my passion!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many different reasons. I was born and raised in this religion but it was always very clear that we had the choice to go to church or not. It didn't mean a whole lot to me until I left home to go to college for the first time. I suddenly had to decide whether or not I was going to live this life style for the rest of my life. I decided I would live the very best I could to see where it took me. In this I started going to the temple every week, and began to learn much more clearly how much our Heavenly Father really does love us. I met my husband in my ward and we soon got sealed (or married) in the temple. I loved him so much and I didn't want to lose him after this life! I wanted him for eternity! About 9 months after we were married, I got pregnant with our first baby. Everything was going so well until suddenly at 16 weeks (4 months) I went into labor. The baby had no chance of making it. We were able to deliver our precious baby boy just a month after our first anniversary. I loved him so much and was so sad that we weren't able to raise him in this life! The most comfort I received during this time was knowing that my husband and I had been married in the temple and this child of ours was ours for eternity! I knew I was going to hold that baby again! That is what draws me to being a Mormon! Knowing that my family here is mine for eternity! I don't have to wonder or worry about it, I know it because my Heavenly Father has promised this to me and as long as I live the best that I know how, I will be able to hold our precious son in my arms again!

How I live my faith

I am currently a primary teacher, teaching 7 and 8-year-olds in our ward. It is so much fun because they give me such an innocent view on the world! I am also a visiting teacher to two beautiful women in our ward as well. I get to visit them at least once a month and it's basically a new friend that I get to laugh and cry with every month!

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The practice of going to the temple is not secret, it is sacred. Inside the temple we are taught many important and sacred things of our Heavenly Father. The reason only some are allowed to enter is because we honor what we are taught so much, that we believe it shouldn't be defiled by those who would not understand or support what is being taught. We do not want to keep people out of the temple, in fact, we invite all to attend but they have to show they are worthy to enter first. There are many different things that goes on in a temple but the main purposes of the temple is making covenants, a two way promise with our Heavenly Father, and special ordinances where we are taught the way of the Lord. This work is also performed for those who did not have the chance to enter into the temple themselves in this life and have since passed on. Show more Show less
