Hi I'm Scott

I am a Mormon. I love Ultimate Frisbee and running. I play around with computers as a hobby.

About Me

I served as a missionary in Mendoza, Argentina for two years and loved it. I'm working toward a bachelor's degree in computer sciences with a minor in mathematics. I love Ultimate Frisbee, running around, and other physical activities as well as the occasional video game. I love Ohio State Football.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to follow my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. They are absolutely everything. Everything else has an end: movies, cars, money, music, technology, etc. With God and His plan, I know there is something more meaningful. There is a purpose to everything, to this life, to our trials. Though raised Mormon, I have had many doubts and concerns that had caused me to question, "Is it really true?" In various moments as I have participated in church, prayer, and scripture study, I have felt an incredible feeling indicating that the things I have been taught and believe are true. By this communication from the Holy Spirit, I know my direction is true and I follow it. God will not lie. I know such instruction from our Heavenly Father is real and will lead us in truth.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday to honor our Savior Jesus Christ through a ceremony called "the sacrament." I also attend Sunday School classes to learn from the scriptures and to spend time with my friends. I visit certain members from church to share scriptures, serve, and assist them in whatever other way possible. It is a great way to make good friends as well. I am also responsible for putting together weekly activities on Monday nights for a small group of church members. Aside from that, I try to read my scriptures everyday and pray. This is the most influential and edifying part of my life. Prayer is critical and the more often I pray, the better life is.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

In the New Testament there are a few examples of apostle succession. Acts 1:25-26 is one example. Paul later called himself an apostle in his letters in the New Testament. However, the reason why we have 12 Apostles today is due to a revelation that was given to Joseph Smith outlining the organization of the church. By the Lord's command were the 12 Apostles organized again. The 12 Apostles serve the church and its members as did the Apostles of old. They together with the President of the church receive revelation necessary for guiding the church. This open line of revelation is a great blessing for us, the members of this church.
