Hi I'm Michael Nielsen

My passions are reading/writing, rock climbing and video making/editing. I'm 24 years old, a college student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. In the summer I swim, hike and boulder, and in the winter I love to snowboard. I also have a passion for writing, though it can be overwhelming at times. I try to love life, and be happy, even through the hard times. I have great family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because of two things. The knowledge it brings to me. I can't understand how people can enjoy life, not knowing why were here, or what happens when we die. These are scary questions to ask yourself, if your unsure of the answers. This knowledge puts perspective on what I do. This knowledge gives me hope. The second reason would be the blessings that come from living in accordance with this knowledge. When I am doing all that I can to be who I know God wants me to be, I am SO happy. I feel like anything is possible.

How I live my faith

I try as much as I can to tell people about this amazing lifestyle. It's a touchy subject, but it brings everlasting happiness. I attend church on sundays, but this is only a part of my faith. To sum it all up fairly quickly, I try to be like my Savior, Jesus Christ in all aspects of my life.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Michael Nielsen
Joseph Smith was a truth seeker. He, like many of us, wanted to know what life was all about. His Mom and Dad had differing opinions on which churches to attend, so naturally this only made it harder for him to decide. He knew the bible well, and he knew it was the word of God. But then why, he wondered, did everyone translate it differently? One day he was reading and found an amazing scripture that forever changed his life. If anyone lack wisdom, it read, let him ask of God. Just like that. Very simple. In the spring of 1820 he went into the trees, and knelt down to pray. It was the first time he had ever prayed aloud. And he asked his question: which church should I join? He received an amazing answer. Our Father in heaven, and his Son, Jesus Christ, actually can to him. They instructed him that none of the churches were completely true, and that he, Joseph Smith, would then be called to restore Christ's church on the earth. Show more Show less
