Hi I'm Niki

I'm from one of the prettiest places in the US, near the Grand Tetons. I am LDS.

About Me

I grew up in a pretty small town in Idaho near Jackson Hole, WY. Because of that I love the outdoors, particularly horseback riding, four wheeling, occasional hiking, and stargazing. I also love to read, cook and have recently starting leather working. I am currently working as an academic advisor for Undeclared students. I graduated with an Bachelor of Science in Sociology and I just started a Master's in Academic Advising. I have been married for over two years and currently own a cat owner. I love making friends and I love to help people for the better. My mantra is Live Well, Laugh Often, and Love Much.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love it. The doctrines we are taught to life by don't constrain me, they allow me to be protected and comforted during hard times. I know that I could not go through the trials of life alone. Also, because I am recently married I love the emphasis of the family and the fact that I can be with my husband and family forever. I also love the fact that the church teaches us to love others, and I want to do just that, no matter what.

How I live my faith

I try to live me faith by trying to do service. Although life gets busy and sometimes I lack in this area, I know life is so much better when I stop thinking about myself. Whether it is service through visiting and teaching other sisters in the ward, spending time with neighbors, or doing a service project, I feel like when I am helping others I am doing what the Lord would do if he were here.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was the first prophet of the church in these times. He restored the church to the Earth, the same church that was given to Adam and that Christ established on the Earth because it was lost when all of Christ's apostles were killed and the gospel was lost. He isn't the founder of a new religion, but the restorer of the same church that Christ established on the earth. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

The easiest answer to this question is that of service and love. Mormons are taught to live in such a way to be aware of the needs of others so that we can give them the service they need. We also taught to follow a clean and wholesome life in regard to both taking care of our bodies by not consuming harmful products such as drugs, alcohol, or other addicting things. A wholesome life also includes the choices we make such as not engaging sexual relations outside of wedlock. We believe that the body and the spirit and very special and important to salvation and as such try to do nothing to damage or demean our spirit or body. I think perhaps another aspect of Mormon life is that we try to search for happiness despite the conditions we might be living in. Even if we do have down times, we realize that material possessions are not necessary for happiness. By focusing on things we can control, such as attitude and family relations, we are able to keep things in perspective that all things happen for a reason and if we are faithful the Lord will help us through. That is the key to a happy life, living not for material goods but to increase our character and faith. I am glad I was raised a Mormon, for in the chaotic word today, who knows where I would have ended up if I wasn't aware of this lifestyle. It has greatly enhanced my life and I am sure it will continue to do so. Show more Show less
