Hi I'm Karen

I am a country girl, a mom of two cute kids, and a happy wife. I'm so glad that I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am a mom first, can't get away from that one! Haha! I love my two kids more than anything in the world. I have always been a country girl so now I have a lot of fun sharing that way of life with them. We live in a tiny town, have horses and a ranch, and love to do anything outdoors. My husband Frank and I both have bows and like to hunt and also like to take the kids out in the hills on our four-wheelers a couple times a month. It really doesn't matter to us whether we're on horseback in the middle of the ranch or out in the backyard picking up nuts, we just love our country way of life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon church so I don't really have an amazing conversion story to share. I can tell you this though, I am not the type of person to just take someone's word for it. Every decision I make is because I believe it's the right thing and living my life as a member of the church is no different. I have put effort into developing my testimony over the years. I know that the lifestyle I have chosen is true and right. I have a strong testimony of my Savior and the gospel. If I didn't choose to attend church and live my every day life centered around the gospel, I would be lying to myself. I know this gospel has the full truth. I also know that living the way we are asked to in the church does not restrict you, but sets you free. People are always looking for more ways to be happy and free. It's hard to understand unless you've lived it and experienced it but the LDS church provides you with exactly that if you follow the gospel. Who wouldn't follow the gospel knowing that?!

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by teaching my kids what is right through my example. Being a stay at home mom I know that every move I make is watched and noted by my two kids. It's so important to me that they learn concepts like obedience, charity, and hard work before they go out on their own. It starts here and now, when they're young. I know that my job is crucial to their success and happiness in this world.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Jesus Christ was sent to this earth to atone for our sins. He has paid the price for each one of us to be forgiven of our transgressions in this life and return to live with our Father in Heaven. We do not believe however that we are automatically forgiven just because we claim to be christians. In order to receive that grace we have to come to our Heavenly Father, sorry for what we did, and ask for forgiveness. We then need to write the wrong, and not do it again. Forgiveness is always attainable if we go through the right channels. That's the gift that we have been given by our Heavenly Father, made possible through our Savior and brother Jesus Christ. What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is what a person knows to be true.  Here is my testimony I know that I have a Father in Heaven who knows me individually and loves me. I know that I lived with him before I was born here on this earth. I know that my Father listens to me every time I pray. He knows my heart and what's on my mind even before I come to him. He wants nothing more than for me to find true joy and happiness in this life and for me and my family to return to live with him some day. I know that prayer is a real direct line of communication with our Father. Whether we say a few quick desperate words in our head or kneel for hours at the foot of our bed, it is all important to our Him, and he hears every word. I know that my Savior Jesus Christ walked this earth. He was born just like we all are, lived a mortal life, and set a perfect example for all of us. I know that when he was on this earth he atoned for all the sins of the world, including mine. He suffered so much more than I will ever be able to comprehend. I know that Jesus was resurrected after he was crucified and that he lives today, with our Father in Heaven. I also know that the earth is preparing for his return in these last days. I know that every one of us, alive on the earth now, were saved for this time. We are strong and special. Our children are even stronger and more special. We all have a purpose. I know that the way to find that purpose is to come to our Heavenly Father in prayer and form a relationship with Him. He will guide each one of us to where we need to be. I better stop there, although I could keep going! I am so grateful for my testimony. In these days it seems like nothing is ever good enough or certain enough. I'm grateful that I have a deep set of truths to base my life on. It gives me stability when there seems to be less and less in the world around us. Show more Show less
