Hi I'm Garrett.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in my early twenties, am married to a wonderful woman, and am studying Information Systems. As a hobby, I love music. I play a variety of instruments, and have enjoying being a part of local bands for the past few years. I also enjoy reading books by authors like Dean Koontz, Brandon Sanderson, or Orson Scott Card. But most of my free time is spent doing activities with my wife like hiking, walking, watching movies, or simply spending time with family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it is only through living by the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that we can live truly happy lives. In a world where standards and beliefs are constantly compromised and changed, there is no where to turn but to Christ's own church. I am a Mormon because I love the Savior and His atoning sacrifice, and the opportunity it gives me to change my life, repent of my sins, and eventually return to live with my Father in Heaven. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that its teachings are true, and that through prayerful study, all can know of its truthfulness and enjoy the blessings and peace that it brings. I am a Mormon because I know that Christ has ordained prophets, seers, and revelators for our generation to guide and protect us, and that they are men of God. I am a Mormon because I know that by following Mormon principles, my wife and I can build an eternal relationship. Our marriage can overcome any and all obstacles through faith and devotion to the Lord and to each other. I am a Mormon because I want to be the best father I can be, and want to instill in my children a set of morals and standards that cannot be compromised and will lead to successful, happy relationships with others, and to a successful, happy life overall.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by committing everyday to be a representative of the Savior. Whether in school, at work, or at home, I do my best to look for opportunities to show love and charity to others through kind words, meaningful service, or other activities. I live my faith by participating in my community congregation. My wife and I teach a Sunday School class that helps others and ourselves to recognize how we can better live the teachings of the Savior, and share those teachings with others.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. We have a deep respect for Josephs Smith, and revere him as a Prophet of God. Joseph Smith was called to do a great work for our Heavenly Father in these modern times; however, he was simply called as a prophet, the same as Noah, Moses, or Peter. We do not consider him to be on the same level as Jesus Christ, or God the Father. We have the opportunity to continue to follow prophets today, men ordained of God to help lead and guide us through these confusing and challenging times. Show more Show less
