Hi I'm Emily

I'm an undergraduate studying biological science education at BYU, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in many places including Missouri, Colorado, Texas, Maryland, and I currently live in Utah for school. I come from a family of 6 girls (I'm in the middle) and two wonderful parents. I absolutely love doing crafts and painting, and my interests include reading, listening to and playing music, and playing board games.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by a family who was active in the church, but my testimony and decision to be a member of the church is my own. I have had a lifetime of experiences that have made me come to the realization that I truly have a Heavenly Father, and he loves each person individually, and wants us to return to him someday. I believe that His son Jesus Christ atoned for the sins of the world, and that it is through faith in Christ and acceptance of this atonement after all we can do that we can return to our Heavenly Father's Presence someday. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true record, and it gives another testament of Jesus Christ, and gives an account of his visit to the Americas after his life and ministry. This book contains many plain and precious truths that work hand in hand with the Holy Bible to testify of Christ and his gospel. I have felt the Holy Ghost confirm to me the truthfulness of this book, and I know that anyone who reads it wanting to know for themselves can pray for an assurance that it is true. I know that Joseph Smith was an inspired Prophet of God who restored the fullness of the gospel back to the earth. I know this church is the true church, with the same organization as ancient times. I believe that God still cares about His children today, and speaks to them through Prophets, as he did in the ancient organization of the church, and if we follow the teachings and revelations of our Prophet today, that we will be well prepared for the second coming.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day by day. I strive to have Christ-like Charity, and to stand as His witness at all times, in all things, and in all places. I've had the opportunity to serve in church callings, and I am currently serving as a visiting-teaching coordinator. The visiting teaching program is part of the Relief Society organization for women in our church. In the visiting teaching program, we concentrate on helping reach out to the individual sisters in the Relief Society by assigning companionships to visit and befriend these individuals, share an inspirational message, and pray and watch out for them, making sure to visit at least once a month. I know that this program is inspired, and I have made many lasting friendships and connections with the sisters that I visit. My calling is to encourage and facilitate this program in my ward.
