Hi I'm Huan-Chen

After living in Taiwan for 8 years, I moved to America. While I have a BA in English, I am grateful to be a stay-at-home mom now.

About Me

I am a college graduate and have been married since 2010. I worked as a technical editor for a year and while I enjoyed my job, I love being a stay-at-home mom even more. It's what I have always wanted. I love reading, playing the viola, and singing. My favorite date night activity with my husband is cooking dinner together and going on walks when the weather's nice, though it's hard to have time alone now that we have our little boy. While stressful at times and certainly tiring, being a mom is a great blessing in my life. What I enjoy most about being a mom right now is watching my active toddler learn and grow. He is such a joy.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was born into the church. At first, I probably did go to church just because that was what I was used to, but I received a testimony for myself over the years. I don't think that there was a specific time that I found out that this church is true; it came slowly as I applied the principles that I was taught. I found that keeping the commandments made me happy. When I read the scriptures, pray, and attend church, I can feel the Spirit testify to me of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Knowing that I can be with my family forever is something that has helped me remember why I am a Mormon, especially now that I am married and have a son.

How I live my faith

I just try my best to live what I believe: I say my prayers, study the scriptures, go to church, serve those around me, and try to put God first in my life. I'm not perfect at doing what I know I ought to, what I want to do, but I do my best to improve a little each day. I have been a teacher at church, and this experience has taught me as I have studied the lessons and tried to apply it to my life. I have recently been given the opportunity to work with the children of the church. I get to teach them the gospel and it surprises me at times just how quickly they learn and grow.
