Hi I'm Patti

I'm a mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in the south with my husband and two daughters. As a stay at home mom, I fill my time with reading books out loud, cooking homemade meals and days at the beach and park. I get up every morning to run or cross-train for various running events. A half-marathon is on the horizon! I am also pursuing my Master's of Nonprofit Management. I feel lucky to have the opportunity to continue my education and attain goals while raising a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a testimony of Jesus Christ, as the Savior and Redeemer of all. I know His ability to take away our burdens of sin and sorrow is real. I know that the Book of Mormon is a testimony of His ministry. I know the words of the scriptures are true and if we search, ponder and pray our faith will be increased. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet. He was tried and tested, and proved himself faithful to the end and with his life set an example of discipleship and faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that the keys of the administration of the priesthood have been passed from him to our Prophet today, President Thomas S. Monson. If we follow his counsel we will not be led on the wrong path. He leads the Lord’s church on earth. I have faith in these things. I know that if I keep my covenants and obey the commandments, I will prove my faith to the Lord and find joy in his presence with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I serve in my local church congregation as the Music Leader for the 4-12 year old Sunday school class (Primary). I LOVE LOVE LOVE teaching the children songs about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Music brings the meaning of the gospel into their hearts, and I know it builds their faith. I know they enjoy the time too, and the greatest blessing of this assignment is hearing stories from their parents about how they have learned principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Think of being able to actually be near the Savior, Jesus Christ. Imagine being loved and healed, blessed and guided by Him. When He was on the earth the members of His Church loved Him, they depended on Him, and they followed Him. We can imagine how saddened they were at the prospect of Him leaving them, but He promised: “I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. … The Comforter … is the Holy Ghost” (John 14:16, 26). He then gave them the priceless gift of the Comforter to be their companion after He was gone. The Holy Ghost can be with us always and guide us back to our Heavenly Father, but in order to enjoy the benefits of this holy gift, we must truly receive it, and then we must use it in our lives. The Holy Ghost is the Comforter (John 14:26). In the same way a loving parent can quiet a crying child, the whisperings of the Spirit can calm our fears, hush the nagging worries of our life, and comfort us when we grieve. The Holy Ghost can fill us "with hope and perfect love" and "teach us the peaceable things of the kingdom" (Moroni 8:26; D&C 36:2). I have been comforted through the trials of my life as I have learned to recognize the warmth of the spirit. Our Father in Heaven does not want us to feel alone. As we strive to stay on the path that leads to eternal life, the Holy Ghost can guide us in our decisions and protect us from physical and spiritual danger. Lastly, the Holy Ghost "witnesses of the Father and the Son". The Holy Spirit can help us really understand deep down inside the most important truth ever known—that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and that because of Him every one of us who ever lived will one day live again. And because of Him we can repent of wrongdoing and get on the path that leads us back to our Heavenly Father. The gift of the Holy Ghost has been a wonderful blessing to me ever since I was baptized. I am so grateful our Father in Heaven has provided us with this great comfort. Show more Show less
