Hi I'm Matt Stone

I was raised Pentecostal. My wife is a princess. I'm an entrepreneur. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Life has been an amazing adventure full of challenges, tests, set backs, mistakes, changes, learning & growth opportunities...all which turn out to be blessings as I've put my trust in Jesus Christ. I've become a new person and am beginning to understand what life is all about. My greatest life decision was becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in April of 2005. A year later I was blessed with the amazing opportunity of serving a full-time 2yr mission. I've just returned June 2008. Now I'll spend the rest of my mortal life applying what I've learned. Hopefully my life will be set an example of continual "change and improvement." If there were one word to explain my desires and dreams...progression it would be. My ultimate goal and most important thing to me is to have an eternal family. I want to find my princess, build and develop our love and happiness here with our family..then carry that joy into the eternities. My angel, wherever she is, seeks the same! Update as of 1st Aug 2009: I have since found my angel...she was disguised as a princess. On this day we were sealed in the Baton Rouge Temple for time and all eternity! Now we both begin the new journey together of building a celestial family here which marks the beginning of forever together. Update as of 25th March 2012: My amazing wife and I are parents to our beautiful healthy little boy, Cooper Matthew Stone! Coop was born 14th August 2011.

Why I am a Mormon

Happiness. Eternal happiness. I was raised Pentecostal, by two wonderful parents. My dad was a preacher, my mom an angel. After college, I began a search for "the truth." I spent most of my time praying and studying the Bible. After I began praying and fasting to know the truth, I met the "Bowman" family. They shared some of their beliefs. They invited me to find out for myself through sincere prayer. Long story shorter, I received council from different preachers, so I spent the next 6 months reading anti-mormon literature. All the while, I continued praying to know the truth. After 6 months of what I call "hell," I had an amazing experience. My eyes were opened. And I knew for myself certain things. I knew that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost were 3 separate beings. I knew that the things that family shared with me were true. So I called the Bowman family, told them I hadn't forgotten about them, in fact had thought about what they shared, every day. Mrs Bowman said their family had been praying for me everyday. She also invited me to meet the missionaries. I met the missionaries. They answered my questions. They asked me to pray to know if the Book of Mormon was true, and if Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. I went out of town for work. While in my hotel room, I prayed to know. While praying, I received my answer. I was given that knowledge and understanding for myself, by the Holy Ghost. I ran to the desk and grabbed a pad to write down what I knew at that moment. I then called the missionaries, telling them that I needed to be baptized that weekend (it was Wednesday). They had not taught me any of the lessons yet, the next weekend would be better, so they could teach me the lessons. I also told them that I needed to serve a mission. I knew what was most important. They said I needed to wait 1 year for that The next week they taught me, I was baptized. A year later, I served a 2yr mission.

How I live my faith

In work, I aim for integrity and honesty. In church, I serve by visiting families each month to check on their welfare and to teach gospel lessons. I also serve as the leader in a men's group, known as the Elders Quorum. At home, I try to show my amazing wife how wonderful she is, how much she means to me, and how much I love her...through daily actions and reminders. I try to be as much of a help as I can with our little boy. As he grows, I will teach him through my example. Overall, I try to live according to my conscience and the understanding that I've received.

What is faith?

Matt Stone
Trust that leads to obedience. Without the obedience, it's only a confessed belief. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Matt Stone
Our continued obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ will help us develop a love that will be like a seed that keeps growing til we are filled to capacity with the pure love of Christ. This will affect our responses to our loved ones. Show more Show less

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Matt Stone
Absolutely! I can't imagine...it just doesn't feel right...that our loving Heavenly Father would send us here, allow us to develop such amazing relationships during this life, especially with our family, only to separate us after this life. On the contrary, He knows that our greatest happiness will be an eternity spent those we love so dearly. And He has provided a wonderful plan, where if followed, we can enjoy an increasingly joyful eternity with our families! Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

Matt Stone
It is the highest quality of living...what "Life" is meant to be like. This is the same quality of life enjoyed by our Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. They both desire that we be able to enjoy this same quality of life. And, little by little, by obeying the commandments, we progress and our quality of life increases, along with our happiness. What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Matt Stone
At first, I had a hard time understanding this word....not typical for Pentecostal lingo. But I later understood...knowledge received through personal revelation. As we grow in the gospel, we will receive testimonies on many different principles. I have received, through personal revelation, knowledge that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. This was given to me after earnest prayer and truth seeking. Show more Show less
