Hi I'm Janet

I enjoy reading, drama, and writing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single parent with 3 children and 1 granddaughter. I work with children with special needs in the elementary school setting. In addition, I coach Cross Country and run an after-school study club for kids at school. My family is very involved in Scouting and 4-H, and I was the 4-H Clown Leader for our County for several years. In my free time, I like to crochet, cross, stitch, embroider, read, and write in my journal.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a child, I was a Mormon because my parents were as well. As I got older, I developed my own testimony of why being a Mormon is right for me. I love the fact that we have a Prophet on the earth today who receives revelation from God. I like to hear our Prophet and other Church leaders speak on things that are relevant to us today. I am a Mormon because family is important to me, and the values taught by the Mormon church help me to raise my family in a healthy way. Being a Mormon is important to me because there are so many things in our world today that are chaotic and harmful to us. Having the Gospel in my life gives me the strength to avoid temptation and teach my children how to avoid it as well.

How I live my faith

I have several responsibilities at church. I teach the adult Sunday School class. Although it can be a little intimidating to teach adults, especially those who were my teachers when I was younger, I learn so much by studying for my lessons. It really is a great blessing. I also play piano for our Women's organization. This really teaches me humility, as I tend to get really nervous as soon as people start to sing, so I have to practice a lot in order to do well. My final job at church is to work with the Webelos in the Cub Scout program. I absolutely love Scouting, so this one is easy for me! It is so neat to see the boys having fun and learning at the same time.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Janet
It is not always easy to have faith in Jesus Christ, especially when so many things can go wrong in our lives. Reading the scriptures every day is a big help for me in remaining faithful. When I read the scriptures, I am reminded of how much Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me and want me to be successful. Prayer is a good help, too. I know that if I remain faithful, I will have the strength to overcome any hardships in my life, even if they cause a lot of pain for me at the time. Show more Show less
