Hi I'm Stephen

I enjoy sports, music, friends/family and most of everything else and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to the most wonderful girl in the whole world. We have an amazing boy who is almost 2 years old. I am in Optometry school and looking forward to graduation so I can finally grow up and have a job instead of taking tests all the time. I really enjoy sports, playing and watching them, but mostly playing them, and being outdoors. I like music and hanging out with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the doctrines that are contained in the Mormon (or LDS) church are true. I know that Jesus Christ is the head of the church and that He has chosen a living prophet and apostles and speaks to us through them today just like in the past. And most of all I am a Mormon because when I have prayed to my Heavenly Father and asked Him if this church is true I received an answer from Him through His Spirit that it was true and that I should be a member of His church. Other reasons include that all the doctrine makes sense and as I live the doctrine and principles taught I am happy and at peace.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the things the Lord asks me to do. In the LDS church everything is voluntary. No one is paid for what they do, not the bishop or anyone else. Everyone is given a "calling" or responsibility that Heavenly Father wants them to do. He lets the church leader know who He wants in each calling, then the individual is asked if he or she would be willing to do that. You can say yes or no and every calling is just as important as the next. As long as you give a hundred percent effort into fulfilling your calling you will receive the same blessings from Heavenly Father. I have enjoyed church callings I have received. I have been in charge of a family home evening group while I've been at college. This is a group of people my age in my ward that got together each Monday night for a short lesson and an activity. That was a lot of fun and a great learning experience too. I have also been a consultant for family history, so for people who want to do their genealogy work and had questions, they can come to me and I can help them learn how to do it. I have also been a missionary for my church. I spent two years in England teaching people about my church and doing service for them when I could. I have been a youth teacher, learning from them just as much, if not more than I was able to teach them, and currently serve as the executive secretary, a secretary to the bishop. Every calling I receive and work hard at results in personal growth and blessings.
