Hi I'm Dennis

I love football and scouting. I'm a father of seven wonderful children & husband to a beautiful wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sing. I enjoy watching football. I am actively involved in Scouting. I played saxophone in school. I served a mission for my church to the Fiji Islands. I'm a Sr Program Manager for a large bank. I have seven children (5 boys and 2 girls).

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior. I have felt the comfort and reassurance of the Holy Ghost throughout my life. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. As a young man, he sought the Lord in earnest prayer to find which church he should join. I know he saw and spoke with God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. I know that the fulness of the Gospel was restored to the Earth through him. I have visited that grove of trees where Joseph prayed. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and prayed to our Father in Heaven to know for myself if it is true. I feel closer to God when I read it. It serves as a second witness that Jesus is the Christ, that he lives and that he is the Savior of the World. I feel great comfort in the knowledge that families are eternal. I am grateful that the priesthood of God has been restored to the Earth and that through priesthood ordinances I was able to be baptized into the Lord's church and that I was able to be sealed to my family for time and all eternity as long as I remain worthy. I know that God is the same yesterday, today and forever and that he leads this church today (as he has always done) through a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson. I feel the warm comfort of the Holy Ghost when I listen to the words of the prophet.

How I live my faith

I am so grateful that each Sunday I am able to renew the promises I made at baptism and partake of the Sacrament. I hold the Priesthood of God. Through this priesthood I am able to serve others. I am humbled by this opportunity to represent the Lord and serve Him by serving others. I work very closely with the youth of our church. I am actively invoved in the Scouting program. I have served on the staff of a National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and on several Wood Badge courses. These courses are meant to teach leadership skills to our Young Men (NYLT) and adults leaders (Wood Badge). I help to organize fun and spitirual activities for our young men and women. This includes teaching them principles of the gospel including faith, spiritual knowledge, virtue, service and modesty. I love hearing the youth speak about their testimony of the gospel. Many of them attend a class each morning before school that helps them gain a better understanding of the scriptures. I love going to the temple which we consider to be the Lord's house upon the earth. Within the temple, we are able to receive sacred ordinances of the Gospel that allow us to return to our Father in Heaven as an eternal family. I feel especially close to the Spirit of the Lord when I am in the temple. In the temple I am able to do work by proxy for my ancestors. This brings me closer to them and allows me to serve them in a way that they cannot do for themselves.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes! The name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that only through his Atonement can our sins be forgiven and we can return to live with our Father in Heaven. We believe that he conquered death and that because of Him, we will all receive a resurrected body. We believe that the Book of Mormon is holy scripture that provides another witness that Jesus is the Christ. The Book of Mormon was written by ancient prophets who travelled to the american continent and includes an account of the visit of the Savior to the american continent after his death and resurrection.
