Hi I'm Chelsea

My life is so much fun. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a junior at a university and I am majoring in Nutritional Science. I plan to attend Culinary School after I graduate. I will be leaving on a mission soon and I am so excited! I love to sing, dance, act, and play sports like soccer, volleyball, and basketball. I also love to practice guitar and piano. Having fun is a big part of my life. We weren't put on earth to go through each day without smiling and only worrying. We are supposed to be good people and do what God has asked of us, which includes having fun. Smiling and laughing is great. Hanging out with friends and family is great.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love being a Mormon. I was born in the church and had to learn to gain my own testimony--not just my parents'. Although there have been times where it was very hard to follow His gospel, I have learned that it's the best way to live. Being a Mormon has blessed me in so many ways because I know the truth. I know why it is useless to go to parties to drink or do drugs. I know why I need to wait until marriage to have sex. I know why serving others is important. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true church on the earth right now. I always knew that, but it became confusing when my Catholic friend told me that her church was true too. So how could I tell her that what she knew was wrong, but what I know is right? I couldn't. So I tell people through my example. I am a daughter of God. I know the truth with every bit of my soul. The LDS church is the only church that has the complete truth. I am a Mormon because it feels so good to be one. I am a Mormon because I love being happy and sharing my happiness with others.

How I live my faith

I like to live my faith through going to church and keeping the Holy Spirit with me throughout the week. Sundays are always such great, spiritually uplifting days. It's hard to keep that same spirit throughout an entire week. So I try to read my scriptures every day, and pray many times a day. Going to church activities during the week also helps me to keep the Spirit around. Once a month I make sure to visit other ward members that I am assigned to "visit" with. This helps create friendships, and it's always good to know that someone is there to help out. I also organize a type of "family" meeting every Monday night for a group of people in my ward. This helps us feel like we have a support system, even when we're at college and away from home. I also live my faith by reminding myself each day to strive to be like Jesus Christ. I am far from perfect, but the harder we try, the closer we get.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

All Mormons are not required to serve a mission. It is expected of young men (normally at age 19) to serve a two years mission. Women are given the opportunity to serve a mission once they are 21. Men are expected to because it is something God has asked of them. A mission is extremely hard work, and it really helps to mature men and prepare them for life. Women are not expected to go because it is also very important for them to become mothers of Zion. Sister Missionaries have been known to open doors that men (Elders) cannot. But men who are missionaries are also incredible people. Anyone who dedicates 2 years of their life completely to God must be full of love and devotion. Show more Show less
