Hi I'm Roberta

I'm a high school sped math teacher, a quilter, shoot long range black powder cartridge rifles and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I are converts - members for 15 years now. We are don't have any children, just two cats. I teach high school special education math classes. I am also an avid quilter, making quilts more often for others than for myself. I love the math and geometry that is involved in making quilts. My husband and I also shoot black powder cartridge rifles (like the ones used in Quigley Down Under). Being involved in all these different activities allows us the opportunity to live our faith as we interact with people from many different walks of life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that our Heavenly Father loves and would not leave us without guidance today. There were prophets of old guiding the people in the days before Christ. Why would we be left without Prophets to guide us today. We have a living prophet who, if we listen, will help us to be prepared in many ways.

How I live my faith

My husband and I currently work with the young single adults at one of the Institute classes. We love being around these committed young people, interacting with them during class and afterwards. I also find that working with my students who are soon to be young adults is another way I live my faith. I work in a public high school where many of my students come from challenging home settings. By living the values that we are taught and being an example that there is happiness in life, I'm able to reach these students in ways beyond just teaching them math. I hope that they see something different in me - a light shining through me - the light of Christ.
