Hi I'm Brant

I'm a Canadian. I'm a Student at University. I'm a brother, a son, and a husband to a beautiful wife. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm the second oldest member of a family of six children, and the oldest boy. I am currently a student at Grant MacEwan University, and pursuing a bachelor of science degree from that institution. I hope to be a Firefighter for the city. I married my beautiful wife Nicole this summer, and we now live next door to my best friend and his young family. Life is Good! I love to try new things and build stuff out in the garage when i have some spare time. I like motorcycles, and fixing things, and always have a project on the go. I love sports, and play on a mens league basketball team. I enjoy spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, camping or hiking with family and friends. Along with my membership in the church, my family has had a significant influence on my life. I love spending time with them. My mother is one of my heroes, and works hard for me and my brothers and sisters. My parents separated when i was young, giving me plenty of opportunity to be "the man of the house" growing up, and to do things for my mom. Fortunately for me, i learned a lot in my time at home that has proven beneficial as i start my own family. Although I'm not perfect, i know i have a perfect example, even Jesus Christ, who i endeavour to emulate in my day to day life. I'm grateful for my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It brings peace and joy, and purpose to my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate to be born into a family that were members of the church. I grew up learning about what faith is, who i am in relation to God, and what i need to do in order to be happy in this life and have eternal life in the the next. I learned that families can be together forever if i have faith in Jesus Christ enough to repent of the things i do that are contrary to the commandments of God. I was baptized when i was 8 years old, by my father, who holds the priesthood. I have been an active member of the church since that time. I can't honestly say that i know all things of a surety, but i can say in complete confidence that my faith in god and his promises is sufficient to sustain me as i continue to progress and endure to the end. I am a mormon because i do know that the book of mormon will bring you closer to God. I know that as i read its pages, i come to understand more fully gods plan. I see clearly, and it gives me hope in Jesus Christ and his promises. I know that the lord fulfills his promises to me and that god answers my prayers. I have felt the confirming witness of the holy spirit testify of that truth to my mind and heart. I know that i am the happiest when i am being obedient to gods commandments, and making good choices in a daily effort to come unto Christ. I am Mormon because my testimony leads me to trust the lord and his promise that as i am obedient, i can live with my heavenly father again and be with my family forever, and this hope sustains me.

How I live my faith

I'm currently working with the young men in my ward, and help plan and participate in weekly activities for the boys, organize scout camps and teach lessons in sunday school. Some of these boys play on our high school basketball team that i am helping to coach as well. In addition, I've been given a home teaching assignment to visit the homes of a couple of families in the ward and to look after them, helping them with anything from shovelling walks to giving priesthood blessings, and sharing a message from the first presidency each month. I had the privilege of serving a 2 year mission for the church, preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and inviting people to learn about the church and be baptized, in the islands of the Philippines, where i met and served many wonderful people, and who today are still wonderful friends of mine. I live my faith by aspiring to follow Jesus Christ and trying to align my life with his teachings that i learn by going to church every sunday, and in reading the scriptures. Sometimes i find that this is not always easy, but i know that the lord has layed down his life for my mistakes, and that if I trust in the lord and rely on his promises and try to be better each day, he will support me in my efforts to be better.
