Hi I'm David

I ride motorcycles, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I run a motorcycle shop with my brother, and pretty much love all things motorcycle or riding related. I have been married for just over 8 years now, and while we don't have any children yet, my wife and I have just started trying to adopt our first child.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are Mormon, and so I grew up a member. But as I reached my teenage years, I kind of became disenfranchised with the church. Not so much with it's teachings, I just didn't know if that was the way I wanted to live my life. I spent several years trying to see what I had been missing by being a member of the church, but the only thing I found was how much more difficult life can be if you don't really know what the purpose of it all is. I decided to see once again what the Mormon church had to offer me. I read the Book of Mormon for the first time in my life, with the real intent of finding out if it was true. I asked my Father in heaven if it was true, and, well, as you can guess the answer was a resounding YES! I cleaned up my act and have been an active member ever since. I won't try to tell you that my live has been an bed of roses ever since, but I will say that knowing that God loves my, and having a strong set of beliefs to fall back on, has made life's challenges much easier to handle.

How I live my faith

I am the Assistant Scout Master in my ward, and I work with the twelve and thirteen year old boys. We meet together each Wednesday night to work on scouting advancement, or often to do some kind of service project in our community. We also try to take the boys out camping often, to help them develop an appreciation for the outdoors. Each Sunday we meet together and learn more about Jesus Christ, and His teaching. The boys in our group constantly amaze me with the depth of their understanding and faith in our Lord. I truly love working with them!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

It is not required that all Mormons serve a mission. The prophet has said that every worthy young man should serve a mission. Does that mean that if he doesn't he will be kicked out of the church? Absolutely not! My father never served a mission, and he was still married in the Temple, and was called to serve as the bishop of our ward. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

There is only one way to know for sure if it is true, and that is to ask God. There are those who would try to convince you it is true or false, by way of reason, or logic. But if you just pray to your Father in heaven, and ask Him, he will tell you the truth of all things. And once you have received an answer from Him, nothing anyone else will tell you really matters.
