Hi I'm John.

I'm a surfer. I'm a dentist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 59 year old father of five and an avid surfer. I've been married for 37 years and love my wife and children. Family life brings me some of the happiest moments in my life. I'm also a dentist. I've traveled to some pretty remote places in countries of the world like the arctic circle of Siberia, to Belize, Mexico, and Paraguay, to treat under served children with dental needs. It has been an incredible experience. Service always makes me feel good and I love to see the smiles on the faces of those I help.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in a Mormon home and learned of the teachings of the church throughout my childhood and youth, I wanted to know for myself that what I was learning was really true. This desire lead me on a great adventure of learning and of growing closer to my Father in Heaven. Little by little, I gained knowledge and spiritual confirmation through prayer that indeed, what I had been studying really was true. Now as I live the principles I have learned, and follow the teachings of the Savior, I have found incredible peace and fulfillment in life. That's why I'm a Mormon, and that's why I'm a happy man.

How I live my faith

I have come to learn that when I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, I'm really the person who I want to be. It's during those times that I feel best about myself and am kinder, and more thoughtful to others. So living my faith brings me greater peace and happiness, and I do more good as I do. So how do I live my faith? I live it by learning the teachings of Jesus Christ, then doing my best to follow them every day. I find that doing the simple things like going to church every week, reading the scriptures every day, and praying throughout the day make a big difference. This helps me to have thoughts of doing good to others and being charitable in all I do.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

John.
The doctrine of grace is dear to the heart of a Mormon. We believe it is the divine help and strength we receive through the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is this grace that does for us what we cannot do for ourselves. His grace gives us resurrection from the dead. His grace allows us through repentance and belief in him to become clean from sin. These things are a central part in a Mormon's belief and what gives us peace, comfort, and joy. Show more Show less
