Hi I'm Chris

I'm a Husband, a Dad, an Entrepreneur, a Farmer, and a Mormon!

About Me

I am a Husband to RaNae, a Father of 7 beautiful kids, an Entrepreneur, a Farmer, and an active, grateful Latter-day Saint. I currently live in the Ozarks of Southern Missouri, and I am grateful for all of the amazing blessings I have been given by a patient Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon by choice. I was born and raised a Catholic around Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and when I was a young man serving in the US Army, I felt a desire to search and find out more about God and what He wanted for my life. After a long search, and after visiting and studying with many different Christian denominations, and briefly studying Buddhism and Taoism, I came back to Christianity, because of my love for Jesus Christ. Soon after deciding again to follow the feelings of my heart, which were leading me toward Jesus Christ, I met a Mormon, who introduced me to the Mormon Missionaries, and as I listened to their message with an open heart and an open mind, searching for truth, the Lord opened my eyes and my heart to the truthfulness of the message of the restored gospel. What a blessing the Fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been in my life. Growing up in a family with an alcoholic father, prepared me in a marvelous way to hear and understand one of the principles of the Gospel, that of "the Word of Wisdom", which is the Lord's Law of Health, and includes such things as no alcohol, no tobacco, and no illicit drugs. Obeying this law has brought huge blessing to me personally, not the least of which was an escape from the rampant alcoholism and drug abuse in my own family. When I first heard about this "word of wisdom" I felt in my heart that God was nudging me in the right direction, and that this law was given by a loving Father in Heaven as a way for me to live a life of more happiness and productivity. I joined the Church in 1986, while serving in the US Army, the lifestyle for a young man serving in the Army is not the most wholesome, and so the opportunity to grow was a challenge. Shortly after getting off active duty, I went home to Massachusetts to work and earn money for a couple years so I could serve a mission for the Church. I had the blessed opportunity to serve as a missionary in Dallas Texas... wow, what a huge impact that has made in my life. The more I study the Scriptures, and read wisdom literature from around the world, and the more I experience life in general, the more grateful I am for an understanding of the Plan of Happiness that the Gospel of Jesus Christ truly is. If you are at the crossroads of life, and are wondering which way to turn, but are afraid of making a mistake, the best antidote to fear is action. Ask for guidance from your Heavenly Father who knows what you need, and take action... even if you are afraid. The Lord will bless you to know if you are heading in the right direction, if you listen.

How I live my faith

I enjoy going to church, and being with friends and making new friends. I get to meet cool people and do fun projects in the community. For example recently I had the opportunity to cut firewood for a older woman, so that she could heat her home for the winter. It was hard work, but it was also a lot of fun, because I was working with a bunch of other men, and several teenage young men as well, as we played with power tools... which men always enjoy ;-) (chain saws and hydraulic log splitters) on a nice cool fall morning. The woman we cut wood for was grateful and so were we, for the opportunity to serve.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, and I am so grateful for that belief. In times of confusion and sin throughout the history of the world, especially in ancient times, God has always sent prophets to teach the people to repent and follow the plan of God, as laid out in the scriptures. The Bible teaches us clearly that God is the same yesterday, today and forever, and what better time to send a prophet to the world than today? Is there not confusion and sin all around us? Before I joined the church I was totally confused about what direction I should go, and where I should even look for direction. Through prayer and faith and a lot of searching, I got my own personal witness to living prophets. I know that God leads His Church today through a living prophet, just like He has from the beginning. Show more Show less
